My camera is in service since last week, and i still don't have a delivery date, i am really worried, cause i live in argentina, and everything is a problem with customs and all. I bought a red drive like four months ago, and am still waiting. I read everywhere that the service is great, but that is not my case. I read in magazines, people using 40 red drives for a movie, and i can't get my hands on a second drive!!!! WTF do i have to be famous to be treated well. i am loosing all my faith in red. i feel abandoned. In this difficult year for everyone, red is making it more difficult for me. They don't even answer my mails, please, i need help, i know, i am not peter jackson or steven soderbergh, but i bought some things from you and need to be treated at least as a regular customer.

Since last week... Be more patient. RED services well over 5,000 cameras. Seriously, chill.

You don't have to famous, just realistic.

Waiting on stuff from RED.... Well, welcome. Every single owner has had to wait for something for unknown time periods.

You feel abandoned? Sell your RED and go buy a SONY.... I'm sure they'll take better care of you as a customer....

emmm, thank you for your reply? do you work at red? don't take it personally but i prefer an answer from someone from red. If i am wrong i apologize, but right now i am felling like i am abandoned. I had problems since day 1 with red, that i didn't post here, but my experience is not the best. I love my camera, is working well, but the service is not what i read or heard in the forums, so, i am asking if maybe, i am the only one having these kind of problems, or people outside the US, dunno, i only want some answers, if they tell me: yes, you have to be famous to get your drives fast, is ok by me, i just want to know.

No, I unfortunately do not work for RED. If I could work for RED and still have the time to DP.... When can I start? But those who work at RED - work at RED, seemingly 24 hours a day, 8 days a week, 400 days a year...

If you didn't want to hear from someone outside of RED, you shouldn't have posted to the boards... You call and/or email. PM someone.

In any case, what I said to you in the other post still stands.

----Oh, look at that! All ready to come home. And you only had to wait a week for service....

Shawn, i don't want to explain to you all the trouble i've been trough. of course i don't have to. but don't be so rude if you don't know it. I made calls and send emails, sometimes y never got an answer. I love my red, even if it doesn't work as expected. it is the first camera i own, i would never buy a sony by the way. don't be an apple fanboy, red deserves better.

Hello Santiago,

Hiring a Red DIT/camera engineer is one of the best ways to learn new technology and insure proper operation of the Red camera.

This forum is an excellent place to meet experienced Red professionals and trade ideas.

Good luck on your project!

Dave

Thank you david and all the guys. I am my own DIT, cause my background is 13 years of post production and still photography. The problem i had was that the camera rebooted for no reason, and i could never playback files from any media, i hope this has been resolved. Actually i think this is not a big deal, don't get me wrong, it is not ok, but i managed to shoot anyways. Other than that, i had problems with the shipping and i ended up paying a lot more money in customs. Anyway, i love my red, and i will buy the epic when it's ready, but thought i could complain, or be heard, not to start a flame war, cause i am already a happy red user. i still think pc users come second, but well, that is a policy i knew before hand. Again, thank you all, looking fordward to share my work with you.

"I would never buy a sony by the way, don't be an apple fanboy, red deserves better."

Now that should give everyone out there a moment of pause! Frankly, I am researching the AMD Shanghai Opteron along with the HP/Adobe Alliance vs. a personal build right now yet I own five Macs! However, a week is pretty darn good in this biz. I sent an email to Adobe about switching CS4 platform licenses from Mac to PC last week and am still waiting... I'm beginning to think I'll never hear back on that one but the guys at C4D do indeed let you do that! Think about that one as you're pricing systems/software!
