Codec Error message!

Hi there!

This friday we were shooting on location and everything seemed fine. We are all really proud of the perfomance of the Red One camera and it hasn't give us almost any bug or problem at all, just great images.

The thing is that, after lunch time, the script girl asked us to play a clip from the Red Drive to check some continuity issues. It was the best take and when we tried to play it an awful message saying "CODEC_ERROR", followed with the name of the clip, displayed on every screen.

Yesterday, anyway, I could check the safety copy in one of our G-Raid drives and the proxies seemed to play right and we could open the .R3D file in RedAlert, but not in RedCine. Anyway, in the end the MacBook Pro always hang up or closed the apps we used to look at it.

So, does anybody know what can be done to save that shot? I looked into RedAlert to see if I could export that .R3D file as another .R3D file, but couldn't find a way.

Please, help me to find what's going on. We are on build 17, recording into a Red Drive.

Sorry to bump this one again, but does anybody know what can I do to recover that shoot?

It could be a corrupted file. Those happen time to time though not too often. Ingest the file into RedRushes, export all the frames to Quicktime ProRes in any resolution you lik and see if the full clip transcoded or has errors.
