View Full Version : RED EVF- bad rotary encoder?

Hi Folks,

I got my RED EVF months ago, but frankly hadn't been using it (it's really heavy for handheld). However, with Build 20 and the RED upgrades complete I'm using it a lot more (mainly for the extra user buttons).

So, going through the manual last weekend, I tried to get the rotary encoder to work. It didn't.

The manual said, push it in to activate it, then rotate the knob and I'll see functions outline in white.

I saw nothing, and couldn't even adjust the brightness of the EVF.

Did I miss something obvious? Or is my EVF clearly not functional? Everything else about it seems to work great, and like I said it's basically new.

Thanks,

P

Make sure your EVF Status indicator is turned on or else you won't see any menu settings appear. It's located in System, Setup, Preferences, Display menu.

What Mike said :)

Here's a good handheld configuration example which I set up on the last movie we worked on which balances the system nicely and makes it feel much less cumbersome:

Guys, very helpful. Thank you. Nice rig, too!

This camera has so much depth to it, sometimes I think it'll take another year to really fully get every feature. Especially as they keep rolling out improvements.
