Hi All-

As we all know, coming up with a logo is often expensive and frustrating
because usually when you hire a designer, you are often limited to THEIR imagination.

I recently found a company called logotournament (dot) com
and on a Facebook banner ad of all places! a

I have to say I was very skeptical but since I had already blown nearly $7000 and still didnt have the logo I was looking for...They were all FONT based and BORING!

So for a bid of only $300 , I thought what the hell.

Well, it was mind blowing really how many LOGO choices we had within a few days of the tourney. Probably 25 choices the first day.

The great thing is you are getting ideas from designers all over the world,
we had submissions from Japan to Greece, to even Croatia!
We actually had a hard time choosing there were so many ideas we never thought of. The more you bid, the better quality and MORE designers you get... but for $300 we got over 100 submissions!

The minimum is $200 but at $300 we are extremely satisfied with our EMBLEM based logo.

Some of the designs at $400 to $1000 were INCREDIBLE...we again were extremely happy with our CAMERA LENS like logo...

NO, I dont work for or own any stock in this company, but I found it a fascinating model BOTH for people seeking a logo and designers.
The latter simply uploads a few comps... and if you win, you get the cash.
if you don't but get rated, you rise higher in the cue and get to go after more high paying jobs... its a win win.

Cant believe this was on a FACEBOOK banner ad, but Im telling you it was not a scam, and a fantastic and easy to use interface and service.
The only bad part is finding the time to comment on all the submissions
you get tons every day... but its easy to filter them out and rank them
as you go.

We actually ended up combining 2 submissions from the same designer
there is a great interface for back and forth. Wonderful workflow.

Finally, we ended up hiring the designer after the Tournament to do all the branding work with our new logo (bus Cards, Letterhead etc) and its been a pleasure and very affordable.

So if you are getting frustrated with your logo like we were, or dont want to spend $10K to $2K on a major branding firm, then im here to say this is
an excellent resource.

cheers!

I had my logo designed several years ago in a similar manner from a web-based compnay and the cost was about the same. We've used those sites quite often in the past for website design or coding work. Its a great way to find someone with a particular talent to contribute and they could literally be anywhere in the world.

Anyone thinking of using crowd sourcing (design competitions) for a logo should read this article: http://www.thelogofactory.com/logo_blog/index.php/anti-spec-work-parable/

It points out some of the biggest risks with this approach, namely that there is no way to guarantee the final design is not a rip of someone else's stock art.
