My name is Benjamin Hoffman, I graduated from Columbia University and have much more of a theatre background than film having directed numerous plays such as Brecht's Jewish Wife and Ionesco's Rhinoceros. "The Muse" marks my first venture into putting actors in front of a camera and frankly I will rely heavily on you for shot composition and thus am looking for a full collaboration. That being said, I wrote The Muse to give both the actors and the DP a tremendous amount of freedom to explore the time and space between the words as you will see when you read it. Please email themusefilm@gmail.com and I will gladly email you a copy.
We'd be shooting just 3 days the last week of August (29-31) in Brooklyn and Manhattan with probably one half day for B-roll sometime in September.
To be upfront, we have no budget. We are spending what money we do have on food to keep everyone happy. Luckily I have a friend who is a professional chef who agreed to work for free so I can guarantee you will be very well fed! Also, I understand that insurance is a real necessity when working with such expensive gear and we will definitely pull that together (have about 500$) if you don't have your own already.
That said, we have an EXTREMELY talented and motivated group working on this short. We have a girl flying in from Sweden to play the Muse (a beautiful model with Ford) and 6 additional models for one sequence in the film. Michael Eklund (http://www.imdb.com/name/nm1002664/) will play the painter.
Our art department is helmed by Gaba Vallone (the equally talented daughter of John Vallone, http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0885200/) and consists of many talented Brooklyn based artists.
We have a professional sound man with his own equipment, an Arri kit and a 1.2 HMI. Also my roommate is a professional AC (ugly betty, wonderful malady's) and has a large network of NY based AC's who are willing to come on board.
Thus far, the only money spent has been on food and transportation.
We are looking for an extremely talented, motivated, get it done DP with an outstanding reel and his/her own RED/lenses to come on and capture what is sure to be an amazing project. Again, please email themusefilm@gmail.com for the script and include a link to your reel and your equipment list.
Thank you for your time and consideration.
Best,
Benjamin Hoffman
