My RPP's came today. Firstly let me say they are wonderful lenses. Put the price point aside, if i had paid twice the price i would still be a happy bunny, so congrats RED team.

I do however have one concern, and would be interested to hear if it has been picked up on before or other views on this.

The 50MM, when focused to near @ 12", the front optic comes quite a way from the housing, creating a space behind the optic into the body of the lens barrel, and well, just waiting for a lovely piece of dirt or grit to fall in there.

Is this a concern for anyone else/ I am looking at maybe finding a round flat to stop this very thing taking place, anyone got any idea?

I think the optical cell on the RPP's is pretty well sealed. If a foreign object gets in there and you can't shake or blow it out visit your friendly neighborhood lens tech and let them take care of you.

I would not recommend using an optical flat unless you were working in dusty / sandy / windy conditions.
