yeah, I´m in a shitty mood and just felt to get it out.

They are all the same! That goes for most of the hiphop music ( I HATE AUTOTUNE!!) also with a few execptions (Cunninlyguists, Atmosphere etc..) Its all about the bling bling, spinning tires, the booty shaking girls, the same lightning and grading blablabla.

Where did all the creativity go?

Look at videos like scarface - "my block" from the good old days

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Odq2Mvvw6XA

and while we are at it let me throw in some of my favorite music videos;

Cibo Matto - Sugar Water (not fan of the music but the video is just amazing!)

Radiohead - Just (another simple idea yet so geniusly!)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oIFLtNYI3Ls

Nine Inch Nails - Closer (yes I now, heavily inspired by Joel Peter Witkin by still!)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C4VAv8y2hHM

Bjørk - All i full of love - (just beautiful!)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EjAoBKagWQA

I could go on.. Now its just bling bling, reality crap (The hills and spoiled 16 year old girls crying when not getting a Range Rover for their birthday) and mobile ringtone commercials on MTV (why still call it Music Television?)

I´d love if you could prove me wrong though! :P

I'd rather eat my own arm than listen to Radiohead.

Adil: Yeah it is not so bad, I think Mark Romanek is(was?) definitely one of the better music video directors out there.

Liam: So see it without the music then! It is still as good! :)

"99 Problems" WAS a great video Adil! This was the first video where I saw the R1 Carbon Fiber Arm used. For those of you who aren't familiar with it, it mounts to the frame of the car and since it is subject to the vehicles suspension in the same way the driver is, the end result is that the driver is steady in the frame while everything outside of the car is jumping around all over the place. It's a really neat effect, I think.

If it weren't for the booty shaking, I wouldn't even watch them. I'd like to make a video where all you see is booty, and even the lipsinking is done by a booty.

BTW, Busta Rymes' "Put your Hands where My eyes Can see" is one of the most creative, I think.

So dont watch them.

Different videos for different people.

That would be the equivalent for me saying "So don´t read the thread if you don´t like it" ;)

If you want to see a killer music video check this one out.

http://www.vimeo.com/5835140 (give it some time it gets really good around 2:20)

You don't have to like the music to appreciate the amount of work and money that went into creating this work of art.

Well I gotta say,I'm a lover of all music,of course hip hop has a tendency for this "hot women" sort of thing, flash a bit of this and that, anyway the videos that do break this look and are more artistic definetly make hip hop videos or Any genre video worth watching.

Obviously in every genre there is a stereotype for the video and that gets boring but you can't hate ALL videos from hip hop.like Jan said...
Don't have to like the music to like the work placed into it.

Just my 2 cents :)

whatever happened to real names *sighs*

One of the all time great music videos. But I do agree that for the most part, most music videos of any genre have become less inspired than they once where.

Does MTV even show music videos anymore?

The Scarface video isn't from back in the day, it's only like 5/6 years old. That was his comeback album.

This is quite different, and one of my favorites of the last 6 years.

Prodigy's "Smack my **** up" was a pretty sweet video (youtube it). As for softer, more artistic videos, Sigur Ros's "Glósóli" vid is nice... check it out:

Now if only we could see this type of creativity applied to Hip Hop videos.............
