There was a RED house over younder and where will my RED ones stay ? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XXYjEMTQRm0&mode=related&search=
I have been waiting for RED ones to change the Live Music Concert production history not just HD anymore but 4K Camera + PLs Dollies, Jim Arms, Cranes, flying RED Cam everywhere in the year of 2008 to support the O' games in Beijing - CHINA.
People in CHINA have not yet seen ZZ Top / Pink Floyd / Allman Brothers / Guitar Festivals not to mention Woodstock 69 in the states.
Gary Moore has not yet been to CHINA to play his verison of RED House, and I will use 4K RED ones to make those " RED House Concert 2008 "
Welcome to any RED ones owners/DPs to play this gig we need at least 16 RED ones to make this 4K concert.
Will RED build a 16 inputs 4K switcher to go for this 4K Live Concert Production for the year of 2008 in Beijjing ?
We have done 3 hours ( 4 days ) 12 hours uncompressed HD Live music concert with 9 HD cameras onto Disk Array systems ( 16TB ).

I just don't think it's a sensible thing to do. What happened to that 16TB of data? What's the delivery format? Bluray? HDDVD? Is the screen that big, that the people at the concert can distinguish between HD and 4K at a distance? At live concerts, wouldn't people be more interested in the Andy Lau on stage than the Andy Lau on screen? Just because there is a 4K camera, doesn't mean you have to have everything else in 4K and do everything in 4K.

Good plan, but I am just a poor surfer in California and can only afford one Red camera to capture performaces. Then I crop and zoom in Final Cut for editing closeups along the soundtrack timeline. I prefer FOH view from the audience perspective at a concert anyway. Multicams can be dizzy, and too subjective deciding which shot to use for one "switcher" operator.

May be It's a matter of fact that whether you have a good Music / Video Producer to make a good execution tp operate a live video Switcher to decide which shots you need as a first layer of footage you want ( May be only 10 cameras shots out of 16 cameras etc. ) some of Cameraman will be not feeling good in Live operation !! Who Knows and they are just HUMeN.
Are you experience ?
Cheers,

I think you will get the "look" of red without having to shoot 4k with a very expensive 4k switcher. Using existing HD swtichers and such you could produce a much better looking show than what is available today.
I would love to be in China for the Olympics!! keep me posted.

Just curious, wouldn't it be better to have all the RED ONE cameras record RAW Redcode onto HDs as well as provide HD SDI(1080p) out of every camera directly to HD switcher for broadcast?
That way you could edit 4K later and still do a live HD feed for broadcast. (right now I don't think there will be a need for 4K live broadcast as the world is just getting up to speed with HD.) No such thing as 4K HD Broadcast

Why are 4K projectors installed everywhere but only for HD or 2K ? We all know scanning 4K Films stock and do grading in the post works are an expensive and time consuming tasks.
Check out the Concert Screen behind the Band Pool or above the Stage. 60 foot screen size. Duke.
4K Broadscast is never happen even many HD TV stations were gone for the wrong path 1080i (Double Compression 1st HDCAM 8bit 3:1:1 then Headend MPEG2 20Mb/s 8 bit 4:2:0 ) for the 42-65' LCD progressive based displays ??? How will the picture quality to satisfy you guys.......

Its kind of the trickle down to the common man theory. The TV manufactures gear up for HD (1080p), the broadcast stations gear up for 1080p broadcast, the cable companies gear up for the same and everyone watching has no choice. Right now there are just a few companies that even make a 4K projector (Panasonic, Sony, Christie, and Barco) and they are very pricey. I can't find a 4K LCD monitor, regardless of the size. No one, states side has the capabilities (equipment wise) to broadcast 4K. The only places you will see 4K is in the theaters, and that will be within the next 5 - 7 years. These are the only guys that are heading there.
So is there a demand for 4K broadcast equipment, switchers, transmitters?
Create the demand and it will happen.
