My good friend Michael Cioni, sent some of the gang at RED this little iphone video of him working with his new RED rocket system at his new facility, called LightIron

http://www.vimeo.com/6007751

He's got DI on a Pablo running in a nice DI room inside the camera Rental house, Alternative Rentals in Culver City CA - that does a ton of RED camera rental work in LA.

So I figured I would share this small clip with everyone on the forum, and encourage those around the world that have their RED rocket cards running in all the different post production environments that are doing RED work (from someone's basement post room, to the worlds largest post production facilities - it's all great to see) to share small video clips and stories of their first experiences with the card.

We at RED would love to see what you are doing with this new technology, in my first couple weeks of seeing it alive and in use around town - this is a total game changer... again :-)

Thanks!

+ Ted

"...the most technologically advanced thing of this entire ordeal, is the fact that this is shot on my phone."

Welcome to 2005

Edit: That video is great tho. Really is Rocket fast

The sad thing is, I could see some people legitimately suggesting that. :banghead:

I'll have a RED rocket Mac system for show and tells around LA for post houses, production companies, etc, that are interested in seeing it in action - you buy lunch and I'll show you REDrocket 4k playback and some crazy fast file renders on a single Mac tower :-)

If you are interested, send me an email - ted@red.com (don't PM me here, just send me an email)

Cheers,

RocketCine-X is the first app that's out for it. The SDK has gone out a few beta developers and should be going out to all the SDK users. A number of companies are committed to developing for the Rocket.

Dual Link is live.

Thanks Deanan .... very cool.

So Ted, next time you're in West Hollywood pop in and see us. You can show us yours and we'll show you ours .... we're just finishing grading a beautiful RED feature for the Toronto Film Festival .... doing a full 4k debayer to ProRes 4444 .... looks incredible .... really could have done with some help from RED Rocket!

GAIA is the movie, directed and shot by Jason Lehel .... here's the Press Release if you want to know more .... heavy mention of how wonderful the RED ONE is ... Jason loved it:

See you soon .... if you come by at 11ish we'll take you to lunch at Jones.

Is there a only a Dual Link HD-SDI out, or is there also a way to connect a single Link 4:2:2 HD SDI Monitor to it, we´re considering taking a Redrocket powered Mac on set, but don´t want to rent a expenisve 4:4:4 Monitor just for basic conversion and dailies stuff.

thanks

I believe you can just use single link from one SDI.

Dont have RR yet so maybe a current owner can confirm.

Is there a way to output a windowed crop? In other words, a centre cropped 4k image, pixel for pixel to, say a 1080 monitor? Just for checking sharpness? I won't get to hook ours up until next week earliest, right now their boxes are burning a hole in the desk.

Potentially. Looking into it now.

In the redcine x video it looks like you can do simple editing, like setting in/out points for every clip and rearange cliporder for export. Is this allready a working feature or is this something which will come in future.

Is Crimson working with Rocketcine, or is there any other way available or soon to be available to conform to a FCP timeline ?

Looking forward to see the Fedex Truck soon :)

correct, single link works.

I'm using both duallink and single link with TVLogic XVM-245W and both worked great.

Did anyone try RocketCine X with a 25 fps footage ?
I connected a Eizo 24" via DVI 1 to Redrocket set Resolution to 1920x1200, i get an image on the monitor, but as soon as you hit play, the monitor splits the picture and displays the parts randomly on the screen.
