Have any of you had any experience using telephoto field lenses on the RED camera at 2k? The type of long lenses used in sports.
I am planning a show and want to use a RED front of house but obviously want it set up like a proper front of house camera with zoom and focus on the tripod paddles.
Thanks for your time

We use Leica modular lenses the longest we have is a 400mm f2.8 PL mount which is excellent, at 2k this would have an equivalent angle of view of 1120mm or so and may be too long for whats needed, there are a quite a few Canon 300mm conversions around and also a Canon 150 - 600mm zoom plus also Red's own lenses. What focal length lens do you wish to use ?

You could use a long Pl mount zoom like an optimo and put microforce motors on it or you can use a HD B4 mount zoom with a B4 to PL adapter ( I have one if you need it). The issue then is getting power to the lens to run the zoom motor. Someone on here does make these adapter cables but I can't remember who. Mitch from abel may be able to tell you.
If you can find the cable, the video lens may be the way to go as you can run a focus cable and a zoom control to it and set it up like a video camera, that's probably what I would do.
I just saw that you're in the UK. Optex used to make the B4 to PL adapters, so there should be some around in London.
Good Luck,
Shane.

results if its unique range and magnification power is needed, given a sturdy tripod, good focussing skills, enough light (f:5.6) and a subject not too far away in order to avoid heat shimmer.
