View Full Version : Battery Issue - Build 17

I've searched this site for others with battery issues, but haven't really seen anything on the one we're having:

When our RED bricks get to 20-30% remaining battery life, our ACs have a good habit of swapping them out... but in doing a hot-swap with a P-TAP to P-TAP cable, the second they pull the original brick off the camera, the cameras power off.

We've isolated the issue in one of the P-TAP cables and set it aside, but the other P-TAP cable is fine and both cameras are still having issues.

Are these batteries NiCad or something? Lying to us about how much life is left? (I know this isn't the issue, just trying to lightly poke fun while I'm kind of confused)

We're swapping to IDX batteries later today because our rental house is out of the Aaton Bauers. Regardless, I'd love to know if anyone else has had issues similar to this, and how they resolved them...

Corrected stupidity.

Anybody have reasons for this issue, other than the P-Tap cables potentially being bad?

Can't comment on the P-Tap cables, but we address dying batteries by using the Switronix dual battery mount. Pretty cheap solution that allows hot swapping with no power down.
