View Full Version : Problem copying R3D files with ClipFinder

Hi,

I have this EDL that I need to reconform to the R3D files for color timing, and I need to transfer to my RAID only the shots used by the EDLs.
I have no proxies from the editor.
So I load the EDL in FCP and export a XML, then import the XML into Clipfinder, using "Import clips from FCP XML", and it says 0 clips.
The next thing I tried is to "Run Conform on FCP XML File", I set the Clip directories, and it still says 0 clip found.

This is a fragment of the edl:

* FROM CLIP NAME: 4B-4.MOV
* COMMENT:
* +VARIABLE SPEED
* FROM CLIP NAME: A021_C004_1204CK
0019 A021 V C 23:05:45:03 23:05:45:07 01:03:22:23 01:03:23:03
M2 A021 152.3 23:05:45:03
* FROM CLIP NAME: 4B-4.MOV
* COMMENT:
* +VARIABLE SPEED
* FROM CLIP NAME: A021_C004_1204CK
8020 A021 V C 23:05:46:05 23:05:46:20 01:03:23:03 01:03:23:18

Can clipFinder do what I need or do I have to use another alternative?

Thanks!

I don't think Clipfinder can currently do what you need.
But mail me the EDL (address is in the Clipfinder Help Pages (CMD-?)) and give me 24 hours and I'll see what I can do.

Cheers,
Hans

You need to get a timeline in FCP which is linked to Red proxy files before Clipfinder can read it as an XML (correct me if I'm wrong, Hans). Unfortunately it looks like your offline has been done with re-named movies, which makes it hard to re-link eg "4B-4.MOV".

If you fancy trying to 'fix' the EDL in a text editor, you could do a test edit in FCP with proxy files, export that as an EDL, and look at the format and try to replicate it. Not easy but possible. Could be a lot of work if it's a long edit, and it might be easier to create a pull list manually.

There are bits in the EDL that look like legitimate R3D clip names.
I may be able to work some magic on those, but I do need the full EDL to play with.

Hans
