Well we hope so but the original Concorde didn't quite turn out like everyone wanted for various reasons. I imagine BA and Air France were quite disappointed in their investment.

operating costs like large business jets...
that means you can fly 12 people at 0.98 mach at the same price of a sub sonic cruise with 36 people.
Outdated and decadent technology for snobs.

And virgin galatic's plans are of the same type to me. Branson donates his Virgin airlines profits for environmental protection and at the same time opens a new pandora's box...

Yep utopic ideas about supersonic era from '60 are still alive, but now you never know what will come and when (look at RED). I even heard about planned supersonic submarine!!! Dont ask me how should it works, but hey they were serious about it ...

And what about Mach 4 travelling?! Scramjet?! Even Nasa is working on project of supersonic passenger plane - quiet, economical and without sonicboom! :biggrin:

I think BA bought their Concords for £1, the rest was paid by H.M.G.
