Hello all,

Just wondering if you guys have come across this problem before. When converting a batch of R3D files to ProRes HQ, there are a couple of files that seem to convert to 100%, but in the finder they only seem to display 2GB of file size and do not open in quicktime? Will this be a corrupted file? The R3D proxies seem to play ok, so not quite sure why they file isn't converting properly.

Hope all is well.

My guess is you are trying to put them onto a drive formatted for Windows, for example a Western Digital World Book etc.

These all have 2GB file limits.

Alternately you are trying to render to a network share, which also does not work.

Apparently RED is still using a depreciated API that assumes all network volumes don't support files larger than 2GB (or possibly they have some kind of 32bit limit). I've been trying to talk Deanan into using the newer APIs, but they are apparently buggy. He did say he'll take another look at them. Crossing my fingers.

Our workaround for now is to render to a local drive, then copy over to the server using the Finder, and all is well, it's just slower.

same here. No useful network workflow.
