So I log onto my Netflix account, ready to fire up a Watch Now movie, but then I glance at the "Suggestions for You"...

There was a Wall Street Journal article some years ago entitled "so your Tivo thinks you're Gay..."

LOL!
I haven't been on Netflix for a couple years now, but I wouldn't be surprised if they recommended that one to me too. I always go for movies about lesbians, and that one is probably in the same category. Did you watch some movies about lesbians? That may explain it....
"The Motorcycle Diaries" is excellent! That was one of the last movies I rented from netflix.

Netflix is just doing the math: you rented the Wachowski Bros. 'Bound' and you thought 'Brokeback Mountain' was a pretty good movie. OF COURSE you'll like a movie called 'Small Town Gay Bar'. :)

That's funny!
Netflix is wack in this area, like Word's spell checker gone wild with savant AI programming... I've gotten some funky ideas from them, like the suggestions I got after I went on a three film Micheal Haneke binge last summer... yikes...

As Curron points out, I do have a thing for lesbo flicks, plus foreign films, so... :)

I got something similar because I like Almodavar films. I watched almost all of them. Oh, and I watched "Singing in the Rrain" on line. hehehe. Forgot how hot a young Debbie Reynolds was. Of course, I rented a few Tinto Brass movies, a man after my own heart.

Good gosh, just checked and they have my entire rental history saved, going back to 06/04.
Who here is brave enough to post their entire Netflix renting history without editing anything out?
Dare 'ya... :)

I don't see how these qualify me as gay... except for that Fassbinder pic. Oh, and Hooper...

Tom, does Netflix send out movies pretty quickly? Do you experience many delays on certain films? Do they have a decent HD DVD collection?
I have been debating if I should switch to them, but I remain undecided.
I currently use blockbuster.com because I got a free 6-month subscription. And I liked the fact that I could optionally return the movies to any blockbuster and get a free in-store movie or game. But their selection is smaller than netflix (though I have yet to not find a movie I wanted) and their decision to only offer Blu-Ray in stores is another beef.

well as you can see i barely ever use mine. that's only because i'm lazy and irresponsible, though. on the whole, yes, i think it's pretty great. the Watch Now feature is very cool as well, although i wish they would add more titles to it.

Maybe I'll give them a trial run. Thanks.

I like cooking shows sometimes and I was Tivo-ing Rick Bayless "Mexico - One Plate at a Time" and after I started getting the show my Tivo started recording tons of Spanish language movies and TV shows. Took me a week to figure out what happened.

I've not had any significant issues... I LOVE Netflix for watching series tv such as Big Love, Deadwood, etc. all in one gulp over a single week instead of week by week. Great for your childhood favorites as well...
I turn it on around May and generally turn it off in Sept....
I get good value for my money... Here's the world's tallest .jpg with my list...
