Now, I know that this may seem humorous to many, being the uber high unemployment rate of 15%, but Michigan is my home state. After attending school for a year out of state, I have been home for the summer and will be for fall semester as well. While home this summer, I started my own small business shooting wedding video and various other "documentary" style works. Anyways, now that the fall is rolling around, I am wondering if anyone in the area knows of any film work. I'm looking to build my portfolio and just gain more experience so high pay really isn't an issue- just looking to get compensated somewhat.

I love Michigan. Have a few friends there and enjoyed being there a few months ago to see the Spartans/UNC play. I am hoping the Michigan economy, in particular, will recover soon. Good luck on your small business and portfolio!

Thanks! It's really is a great state despite the winters and poor economy. The great lakes and thousands of golf courses are beautiful!

What part of Michigan are you located in? What experience do you have? I may be shooting there in Sept/ Oct.

I live in Grand Blanc, MI. A suburb of Flint. Its about 10 minutes from Flint and about 45 from Detroit.

As far as experience...mainly documentary style stuff, but I shot a low budget short this summer with some buddies from college. I also have about 6 years experience with FCP. Shot a couple of weddings this summer as well as a few promo pieces.
