I think Jim's gotta be regretting ever having asked the speed vs rez question in the first place.. These threads have degenerated into wish fulfillment & wild fantasy, with an astounding lack of technical knowledge or even simple adherence to the already published facts.
As the signal to noise ratio on these threads approaches something even an underexposed F900 would be ashamed of, what say we give the guys who are actually MAKING the camera a bit of a rest from the "gimme" and trust 'em to deliver what we already know is gonna be a superlative product for the 17.5K.
They've got enough of our opinions. Time to let 'em act on theirs.

Hi John,
I totally agree - but I think the reason things are still being discussed is because Jim came on specifically to ask the question, and then even after things started to heat up, he replied with "we are carefully listening to this discussion." This implies that they still want input before making their final decision(s). As it stands, there are a few critical features to the camera which are in potential danger of being lost, and until anyone from the RED team can provide more than vague clarification as to what is going on, I think you will find users from both sides working to keep their opinions heard. For better or worse, (much better, I think), RED has opened the doors to hearing suggestions for their camera from everyone with an interest - and this is the place to most directly be heard.

Lets just trust them
Who exactly does not trust in Red? I have yet to meet one in this community who does not trust in Red one hundred percent. I know I do.
I think Jim's gotta be regretting ever having asked the speed vs rez question in the first place..
I think working so close with the community is a brilliant move by Red. I've run a software vendor of more than a few hundred employees, and with that in mind I think no less of Red when it comes to listening to what people want but giving them what they need. Not listening to customers makes failiure. Doing exactly as they say makes failiure as well. I think Red is a master at this game.
I do however think that we are becomming spoilt , but I think Red can live with that. It's simple a token of religious belief and limitless trust that Red is the best company in the world.

I've posted to much today, so I'm asking any of you guys, please start an "I love you dad" thread to show Red that, though we're spoiled like hell, we DO love them (even if we get no more toys until christmas).
We don't want dad to feel that we don't appriciate him, right?

Not listening to customers makes failure. Doing exactly as they say makes failure as well.
Well said.
Thanks, Jim Jannard, and team, for all you've done and are doing.

Forgive my straightforwardness, here, but this is out of line. He was expressing his opinion, which is just as valid as yours. Here's a thought -- if it's the same thing coming from multiple folks...maybe there's a ring o' truth in it?
No need to insult. You don't like a thread, just let it sink.

Brandon you're pretty new here so I'll let you in on a little tip. Completely ignore filmmaker's gang. Everyone else does.

Whatever the final decisons are, I believe that Jim and company will make the best choices for what should go into the camera. But Jim asked for some discussion on this and got it.
Granted it has been like drinking from a fire hose, and some people have a strong point of view, but I think RED and the RED Users have benefited from this.
I know I've learned alot.

But he's not even the real Hoff! He's an imitation Hoff. It's just one more level of treachery and deceit. We all know that Finner is the real hoff. :gun:

Filmmaker's Gang was brash and rude, but dude, you then doubled it into a personal attack. I don't ignore anyone on this board. If you roll that way, then please at least don't brag about it nor encourage others to do likewise.

I just hope he doesn't wear that speedo during the LART... I can't work in those sort of conditions.

Ahhhhh...no Speedos, codpieces, T-backs, or thongs allowed on LART team members!! No exceptions! Thanks in advance for your cooperation on that...show up in them and I guarantee you the studio doorbell will be suddenly broken.
However, T-backs and thongs are approved for the female talent we'll be shooting though.... :whistling:

I also disagree... While some of the threads have gone off course (which always happens to some degree on forums), I believe Jim really wanted as much feedback as possible on this difficult decision. It's not an issue of trust, rather an opportunity to further develop a great company/customer relationship.
I think that some are so used to the traditional approach of the big camera companies, that they don't know what to make of it. I know I very much value this unique opportunity.

How are customers like mushrooms? -- You keep them in the dark and feed them shit!
Lol, the above joke is one that only Jim Jannard does not abide by, everyone else follows. So a big Aye! to what Casey says, let's not try to make ourselves into mushrooms again...

here are more than half a dozen of posts.. it proves that sometimes someone should say what it should be said.. is there anyone else for the job?
it should be said no matters at what price.. a few people are tough to learn.. sorry but no one will shut up about.. though my fights are past.. f mount is on the red list.. EFP/ENG-style is going on the rocks.. the ###.com and ***.net folks know who rules over here.. despite a few ad hominem arguments when there's some pain on the ass..
saying the obvious.. countless times.. kissing the ass of the boss again and again is not the best choice.. once again.. your words can convert all of them.. the red team.. in a gang of dummies.. ehehehe maybe the boss won't let you go around with no pants on.. or fly on his jet either.. no matters how much show off you newbies are offering.. no paid off.. "God" will not memorize your name anyways.. ehehehe
i wouldn't like at all.. to be the lucid conscience of this forum again.. free speech & Red One's poor man's & l'art oblige..
thanks shawn for your defense.. we both know you're a clever guy.. you can be, not the only one.. maybe yes, maybe not.. but gavin, as usual, your in your own.. you know you can reach me outside wherever you wish..
mine.. finner's pants.. only on REDuser anyway.. no time for hoffssssssssssss nor imitations.. :innocent: :) and me concurs, gibby is used to have good taste..

i have a pair of cameras on order, so i think "let's just trust them" to the tune of nearly $60K worth of my money is a bit too glib. i'd like to know what i'm close to purchasing and whether it will actually be suitable to my business's needs.
