Does anyone have a Red One camera in Christchurch New Zealand. I'd like to visit or phone you up and ask some questions.
I'm looking for a film quality camera to buy for Bush Telly for natural history work about New Zealand biodiversity. Considering all the options.

Hi Mike. Have you placed an order for Red from the source? If you want to buy one from a low number reservation holders you will be pushing your luck. Perhaps renting from one of the owners in NZ until yours arrives?

Hi Peter,
We are using various SD cameras at the moment that belong to our members. Its going to take a year of fund raising to get a decent camera. I have got to get enough information together to start the process. When they ship at the end of the month, there might be a few around NZ to see how well they work.
I'm looking for a "Film Look" capable camera that can do variable frame rate for flying insects, water, weather, etc. Good in poor light. Will use it with a probescope. At the moment, the only likely competition is a Panasonic P2 HD 2000 and or a Varicam. I really like the specs on the Red One, but don't know enough to be sure if it will do what we need.
NZ's natural world is stunning and I want to use a camera that really can capture that beauty. I use a manual SLR film camera and like the total control. Would prefer that in a video camera.

Hello Mike,
I have been helping Scott at Rocket Rentals in Auckland test their Red Camera. We have been converting the images and loading them in our Baselight and Flame suites. You can contact me at Images with your questions, or I will be in Christchurch for the NZ Screen Council, HD Seminar on the 24th of September.

Paul
Any chance of bring a RED camera down with you to the HD seminar. Could be a bit of interest.

Mike,
Paul won't be able to bring the camera down but I'm sure he may be able to bring down some sample footage to display (depending on the setup for viewing)
We weren't invited to participate in the NZ Screen Council workshops but Paul will be the man to quiz on Red image quality as I'm sure will be the representatives from Park Road Post.
I hope to get to Christchurch at later date when the camera has more features enabled than it does at this early stage. I hope to put a presentation together that can be hosted at the CPIT Broadcasting School.
Cheers
Scott Webster

Hi Scott
Paul rang today so we will get to meet up on Monday.
I look forward to seeing this camera in action and also get some feedback from people using it in the bush, aquariums, insect macro filming etc.
When you come down, would be worth advertising it through Screen Canterbury to get maximum attendance from the local industry.
Thanks mate.
