Can't wait to test this one out. Now when QT RedCode 3.9 is out and all. But I guess that I first have install Snow to make it work, or?

Does anyone have this build saved to their computer? I'm in desperate need of a Snow Leopard-compatible version of Crimson, and it seems that the website is totally down. I also have had zero luck trying to get ahold of Ian. If anyone could help me out, I would be extremely grateful.

Thanks.

Alex, did you get it to install and work properly? I've tried, but I can't seem to get it to install... I get version 1.0 dated May 25, 2009.... and it crashes every time I try to launch it...

This is a temporary solution, I'll remove the file when the Crimson site will work again, in the mean time you can download it from here:

I haven't tried on Snow Leopard, I'm trying to avoid going to 10.6 until most the Hardware I use has 64 bit drivers. But there are many things very tempting about upgrading.

I'm also having issues with it crashing on launch. 10.5 here, so maybe it's not backwards compatible?

Also, Ian, is there an alternate method for sending you money (aka buying Crimson) while the site's down? I'm thinking I'm going to be needing the full version in the not too distant future.

Sorry having problems with the host as we are breaking away from RedRelay. Have it up tommorow.

Remove any current installations of the software and try just placing the app on your desktop or applications folder from this archive:

That seems to have worked.

Ah, actually I keep getting this message:

(TypeError: setOutputFileNames() takes exactly 2 arguments (1 given))

And it wont set output filenames and therefore I can't render. This error comes up as soon as you go to the redline tab. even before you import an XML.

I had no luck getting it to work and have ended up buying monkey extract which seems to be solid at the moment.

Looking forward to the new version of Crimson though, now I can compare both.

This is the same problem I am currently having as well.

I have this issue too.. (setOutputFileNames() takes exactly 2 arguments (1 given)).

I was still able to create a telecine XML for redcine, render out and overwrite the telecine file with the saved Redcine project, but when I go to round trip I can not set the rendered location of my clips and therefore I can not get a round trip to load in FCP, I have to re-link by hand.

The site is still down too, FYI.

Shawn,

Did you grab the download from the post right before yours from Ian?

What version of Redcine are you working on... I think the one Ian just posted is tweaked for v.20.

thanks! redline render has started.

btw, no ProRes444 option? i have FCP 7 installed, I'm surprised that option isnt already available. I have a much bigger conform to do next month that I'd LOVE for that to be enabled.

Ian, do you have more info about a Windows version ?

I currently have an Adobe Premiere Pro CS4 project on PC and I would like to know, if there's no Windows version in sight, if it works to use the EDL exported from Premiere (PC) to conform 4K DPX from R3D files on Mac ?

Thanks !

It's a goal, yes. We are working cross platform on all our new stuff. I think when you see what we've been working on you'll be pleasantly surprised.

This issue has popped up for us. Same thing, on Leopard.

Can someone please help? We're on a crazy strict deadline!

We just purchased the software and it seems that this bug is still not fixed. Thats a little bit annoying! But I know crimson and I kind of love it anyway. But is there any workaround to get the job done? Did somebody manage to render in redline or create a roundtrip without that Error Msg?

cheers martin

Martin,

Haven't found a work around... I have to manually import and re-conform my sequences. Painful at times. I am afraid Ian has been very quiet on his Crimsonworkflow/forum of late... I don't see any evidence that this is going to get taken care of. Maybe he will chime in here and give us an update.

This thing is not software.

It's a script that is so buggy that it's useless for feature films work.

Slow, Slow, and then Crash.

I feel like I got robbed because of this purchase.

I don't even feel right about re-selling it, so I won't.

Hope some one is listening.

Thanks

Michael T.

The most recent free version of Crimson (0.9.7) is only debayering the first 20 frames or so of each clip (when debayering to a DPX sequence) and claims that the rendering is complete. Has anyone else experienced a similar problem? What has worked when trying to fix this error? I am running OS 10.6.3 and am up to date on Pro App updates. FCP 7.0.2. Tried both XML formats 4 & 5. This is a new problem— successfully debayered last week. Thanks.
