Is anybody out there brave enough to shell out $700 to test these new high speed CF cards and see if they are fast enough for the REDCode 42 at 4.5K or at least REDCode 36 at 4K 16:9.

using redcode36 and/or redcode42, how much footage (in terms of time) can these cards hold?

Thanks, Jarred. Hope good news come out of your test.
Also, I just sent you a PM a few minutes ago on another matter, please check.

Tested some prerelease ones about three weeks ago, they were not fast enough, or at least the firmware wasn't compatible with them.

I believe the firmware locks out any cards other than Red's (and 8GB Lexars) does it not? I'm fairly sure the camera doesn't run a check on each and every card it puts through, thought it'd be great if it had that feature!!!

Conspiracy theorist...

If a card is not fast enough, we let you use it at a resolution it is capable of.

So the camera does a self test of any card inserted to check the speed it records at? If so, that's really damn neat.

I heard that the firmware you put on the cards also has a gps built-in that tracks us and reports back to Red Headquarters sensitive data like bank account info, wether or not we shoot with other cameras, etc. Also if you use the Red cards in a Canon it downloads a plugin that lowers the quality of the Canon recordings. This comes from a very reliable source inside Red.

I use four Lexar 16GB cards with Redcode28 at 4K on a day by day base. Not one drop frame so far.

Are you shooting 24 or 30 frames? Can you shoot 30 fps on the lexar 16s?

25 Frames as I am located in Switzerland.
Haven't tried 30 frames yet.
