So I missed my Scratch/RR demo at IBC coz I was sick :( gutted.

Does the RR just speed up playback of Red and is the grade output still via the Nvidia sdi outs? Or is everything pushed out the RR?

Or is only graded R3d's pushed out the RR..

Any answers would be great.

Thanks

Si

It's all pushed out the NVidia. But the RR debayers 4K in RT. So yes ... you can grade in 4K, real-time.

ok awesome.

but how do you push out the 4k on the nvidia? :-/

edit. Hmm.. time to email Nacho :)

We should be able "somehow" to grade also in REDCINE-X when final beta is out...or?

WAVE console should be available to support this feature also in REDCINE-X...or?

They shouldn't "allow" WAVE only to work with Apple Color 1.5 and Scratch...or?

Support to REDCINE-X with RR to grade using WAVE would be amazing fast CC on-set..or?

More apps they support more money they can earn.

I'd take the MC Color control surface over WAVE.

Mark, thanks for the recommendation. I was about to get a controller :) Lim

The MC Color was really nice apart from a few things but they are pre-production models so we shall see.

the main issue I had was the balls had a slight resistance unlike the wave that are smooth off the bat. So.. when the resistance gives you get a small click and whoosh you have gone to far... this was only slight.. but so are the adjustments you make when grading.

A sensitivity slider will be in the prefs (very nice prefs) but i hope the balls improve still.

there was a difference between each prototype so fingers crossed.

I've heard others say that the balls on the Euphonics are not smooth enough - too much friction. So I'd wait for real production models to be reviewed before ordering.

The MC certainly looks nifty but after fiddling with them a couple of people told me they prefer the Wave over the MC Color.

I don't think there's a way to get 4k monitoring out of the nVidia so although you can grade in 4k - the monitoring output would be downsampled to lower resolutions.

FYI - MC Color won't work with Scratch right now.

I was suggesting MC Color over WAVE for on-set w/Redcine-X

The bus powered Wave may have some advantages when on set...

Also the balls from MC Color were flying out of the console when I was visiting Euphonix stand at IBC.

Then Wave guy told me that the competitor (Euphonix) would never get a smoother console integration with any software (here is Apple Color 1.5) than they did just because this is their main job only (!?) (they are color grade console makers only).

"Don't ask Japanese about whisky making ask Scots directly, otherwise,...".

So I have got Wave that I also saw at Scratch stand at IBC where the guy didn't know to tell me how they were integrated and calibrated HP DreamColor 10 bit monitor (!!??).

Then I left to AJA stand at IBC and in talk with Gary Adcock, who explain me all that RGB "story" about HP Dreamcolor and now I'm ordering AJA Kona3 + AJA Hi5 3G converter to "power" my HP Dreamcolor and get everything right.

Also my RR supposed to be that is coming tomorrow in Vienna.

Stay tuned.

Well, Euphonics are professional company with good track record so they may come up with something good.

What do you want to know about the integration of the Wave in Scratch?

I'm not sure I understand. The Wave panel would need to be supported by the app that's using the Red Rocket. In the case of Scratch: the Wave is fully supported and the Rocket was running pretty much fine during the IBC demos. But the Rocket doesn't do the color grading - just debayer and feeding the 4k images to the GPU.

It would be nice to have RedCine support for control surfaces - if that's what you mean.

Exactly RR, RocketCine-X, REDCINE-X and Wave.

Would be a holy trio of fast on-set grade.

Also 3CP version 4 from G&D "promised" RR integration.

Anyone know how soon a version of Scratch that supports Red Rocket will be shipping?

If I had to guess ... I'd say 6-8 weeks.

I'd take the MC Color control surface over WAVE.

Read through this thread, and it's not clear to me why you prefer MC Color - can you elaborate on the reasons why MC Color would be preferable to the Wave on-set?

Scratch 5.0 will be 64 bit only and they aim for release close to Windows 7 - which is the preferred platform for 5.0. So end of october/early november. But as the saying goes around here: "... subject to change".
