I don't get HBO (gotta save every penny for RED/VFS products), but my favorite show was cancelled about a month ago. Anyone here seen the show "Traveler"? It was on Wednesday night around at 10pm on ABC. I can't believe they cancelled it! Easily one of the best shows ever on network TV! There were supposed to be 16 shows for the season, but in the middle of shooting the seventh show they told the show creator that the eighth show would be the last. Which brings me to the real motivation as to why I started this thread:
I want everyone to please sign the petition to bring back "Traveler." (http://www.petitiononline.com/willtrav/petition.html) It will only take a few seconds.

Here is a link the the show creator's blog: (http://community.tvguide.com/blog/Celebrity-Blogs/Davids-Traveler-Blog/800048619?rssDate=12345678)

I guess I would have to say my favorites show is "Burn Notice" on USA. "Psych" is not bad either, also on USA.
Other shows I like are PBS's "Nova" (http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/nova/), and "The Universe" (http://www.history.com/minisite.do?mini_id=54036) on The History Channel.

The Wire.
It's the best show I've ever seen on TV. Nothing else even comes close (even Arrested Development, which is probably my favorite sitcom). The first three seasons of the Wire are out on DVD, and well worth renting. The fourth season is even better than the first three, and should be out on DVD either later this year, or earlier next year.
The Prisoner is a pretty solid show too. Haven't seen Traveler.

I'm digging "Flight of the Conchords" on HBO. I was surprised to read in the current issue of AC that it is being shot on Panasonic SDX900 cameras and that most of the lighting is 1X1 lightpanels. The music segments are done really well.

There's not much on right now that I'm excited about. I enjoy Entourage, but the show doesn't progress much. Caught an episode of Dexter for the first time on showtime and thought it was okay.
I'm looking forward to Heroes coming back. And some new shows like The Journeyman may have potential. I've been wanting to check out Doctor Who on SciFi, but not enough hours in the day. Have to wait until 2008 for Lost and BSG.
Recently I enjoyed Sharkman (in HD) on Discovery's Shark Week. Very cool.

I really like House M.D.
I'm not a big fan of hospital dramas such as E.R. etc but House is very watchable, great characters and really interesting stories. My brother bought the box set and I took it round to the parents and now they're both addicted. They're pissed because he's gone off to Equador and left series two in a lockup lol.

I'm going to have to say Doctor Who 2005, but it only airs 13 episodes a season and available only in the UK and Canada. I have to resort to nefarious means to acquire my weekly fix.
60 Minutes and Heroes are the only other TV shows I watch with regularity.
I'll watch House and Medium on occasion if I happen to stumble on them during the normal course of TV channel flipping.

Am I the only one who finds the show NUMB3RS kinda far-fetched. Can someone tell me in what purple world these characters would exist the way they do on that show. I mean, when that guy starts working those formulas...gimme a break. Anyway, I confess I watch it in spite of myself.

The Shield... 6 seasons, and it keeps getting better !
24 (except the last season). Too bad it's too late for them to use Reds on the next season...
House MD, great character...
The Wire is very good too.

The Unit, The Lot, House, Navy NCIS (Cote de Pablo fix) NASCAR, The Denny Crane Show (or whatever it's called)... oh, and Criminal Minds.
edit: watched one season of 24 and didn't watch after that. Too intense for too long. No resting place. Too much adrenaline kills.

Thanks to the internet, I watch less and less TV and found my IQ went up at least 10 points. Then again I've heard on HBO, " JOHN FROM CINCINNATI" is good. Before I cancelled showtime, I liked 'Weeds".
Since the Sopranos are done, I'll be cancelling HBO too. I've been downloading and sharing content from Vuze (best p2p bittorrent out there). Lots of free intro episodes from BBC too.
My favorite channel is streaming movies from Netflix.
Its always sunny in Philadelphia... Finally its going to be back!

Real Time with Bill Maher, Deadwood, 24, Weeds, Dexter, Entourage, Nip/Tuck, The Tudors, America's Got Talent, Dead Like Me, and I'd bet Californication when it airs later this month and of course the limited DCI series Planet Earth.
And WTF is John from Cincinnati and Big Love? HBO has lost its way.

Am I the only Battlestar fan on these forums?
Just watched the first season of Jericho last week. Nuts I'm hooked!
The Office... always a winner.
But... of course we all know those are all just warming up to the real top dog:
Doctor Who. I mean... you can't fight the doctor.
And this is the point I realize every one of my favorite shows is on summer sabbatical. NOOO!!!!!!

Jericho was actually cancelled by CBS after the first season. The only reason it was renewed for a second season is because of an online petition like the one in my first post. Also, CBS received over NINE TONS OF NUTS from fans!

Below is a message from CBS Entertainment.
June 6, 2007
To the Fans of Jericho:
Wow!
Over the past few weeks you have put forth an impressive and probably unprecedented display of passion in support of a prime time television series. You got our attention; your emails and collective voice have been heard.
As a result, CBS has ordered seven episodes of “Jericho” for mid-season next year.* In success, there is the potential for more. But, for there to be more “Jericho,” we will need more viewers.
A loyal and passionate community has clearly formed around the show.* But that community needs to grow.** It needs to grow on the CBS Television Network, as well as on the many digital platforms where we make the show available.
*
We will count on you to rally around the show, to recruit new viewers with the same grass-roots energy, intensity and volume you have displayed in recent weeks.
At this time, I cannot tell you the specific date or time period that “Jericho” will return to our schedule.* However, in the interim, we are working on several initiatives to help introduce the show to new audiences.* This includes re-broadcasting “Jericho” on CBS this summer, streaming episodes and clips from these episodes across the CBS Audience Network (online), releasing the first season DVD on September 25 and continuing the story of Jericho in the digital world until the new episodes return. We will let you know specifics when we have them so you can pass them on.
On behalf of everyone at CBS, thank you for expressing your support of “Jericho” in such an extraordinary manner.* Your protest was creative, sustained and very thoughtful and respectful in tone.* You made a difference.*
Sincerely,
Nina Tassler
President, CBS Entertainment

SpongeBob Squarepants
I think SpongeBob is really artistic. Like the recent episode where the fry cook before SpongeBob was hired. he tried to be a better frycook than him but failed and everybody just had to accept that he is better than SpongeBob. It's got to be one of my favorites too.
I like King of the Hill, Dirty Jobs, MythBusters, How it's Made, The Simpsons, Desperete Housewives... Hmm... I just realized I don't watch many shows. I don't like most of the new shows. Or movies for that matter... Maybe it's just that I don't give them a chance.
Anyway, my favorite? I don't know.

No! Battlestar Galactica is awesome!
I watch it on DVD, though, since I watch absolutely no TV--so don't tell me if season three sucks. Oh, my IQ also went up ten points since I stopped watching TV. Talk about doubling your brain power.

I'm into lost, hero's and, so you think you can dance. I also love battlestar, and on the lot . I like the characters and the story from burn notice but have a hard time getting around the editing style.
I miss firefly, I think it was one of the best written series, and one of the shortest lived. The movie pissed me off, I hoped it would rekindle interest in the series instead if killing off the most interesting characters. I'm trying to watch less tv. It cuts into my writing time

I haven't gotten TV Reception or Cable for 3 years and haven't been bothered at all. Yay Netflix! ... and :shiftyph34r: bittorrent when I can't wait.
Oh and long live Xbox Live Marketplace.
Only spoiler I'll give for season 3 is: It's exactly like every other season: starts off amazing... goes nowhere for 8 episodes in the middle and then picks up and leaves you desperate for more.
I'm actually starting to get sick of long-format TV shows just because I'm beginning to feel that the writers have stopped delivering fulfilling episodes in a lot of shows. So instead of getting 24 great little minimovies or maybe 12 great little mini-serieses seasons are turning into 18 hour snore fests where nothing happens and you get no catharsis.
I gave up on Prison break for that very reason and then didn't start watching until this last season because I was so sick and tired of it going nowhere.

Dexter is a great show, and so is The Tudors...I htink Showtime might run it in the US. The thing that amazes me about the latter is that it was shot with the F900 and is probably the best I've seen out of that camera. Yes it is old technology but the DP really did a good job of working within its limitations...I believe there was a write up on it on Studiodaily.com.

Anybody dig on "Damages"? The show's open is sublime and sets the tone quite well. Of course I hated it the first time I saw it... but I quickly got into it. The structure of the show is certainly the star here...

Rose Byrne makes "Damages" easy to watch. The acting is all around pretty good too. But yeah, the structure makes it interesting with all those flashbacks.

While season 2 and now 3 isn't as good as season 1, it is still better then most other shows on network tv these days. I, for one, don't have the premium channels like HBO.
