Agreed. I shot almost this entire music video (http://photography.visceralpsyche.com/Movies/Movies/9073688_doyMQ/1/616992467_Zm6EF) with that very combination.
Interesting shot(!) Bob!

Anybody having problems with very soft edges with this lens, especially at its widest? My Birger is not properly collimated yet, but when focused by eye, my 24-70 is spot on and sharp all around, but not my 10-22. Nice, sharp centers, but my corner edges are VERY soft.

That sounds like a curved field projection: that lens does not make a perfect flat image. Not much you can do about it -except for mounting an additional lens that corrects it, but also might bring new problems....
this behavior is typical for wide angle lenses.

I have not noticed that at all with my 10-22mm, which is one reason I like it so much.
I only had primes when I collimated mine so for me the process was a lot of checking distances with various Canon primes. When I finally got a friend's 70-200mm to test using the zoom I found that I was spot on. Same thing when I first popped on the 10-22mm.

Has anyone compared it directly on the birger/impero with the tokina 11-16? The little extra speed would mean more to me than the extra fov but am worried about the Tokina's focus handling with the impero and how much optically one has to sacrifice.
thnx and great work on the material posted,
