No need for all that bandwidth with the REDRAY codec...still, pretty cool if not useless as a webcam.

Yes, lack of any compression makes it totally useless as a webcam :smiley:

It really is starting to drive the "resolution to burn" point home for me.
2 years ago everyone was saying that 4K aquisition was overkill. Now we have consumer magazines talking about "Ultra HD" TV's, 4K projectors are being installed in cinemas nation wide, people moan that debayering only gives you 3.2K of actual resolution on a 4K sensor, consumer camcorders that do 1080p and overcranking even webcams now that do 1080p. Kudos to RED for hitting the bullseye at a moving target.
If I remember right REDRAY was 10mbps for 4K right? That would mean you could do 1080 25p @ 2.5mbps or thereabouts?
