View Full Version : 9b strange bug?

Thought I'd shift this to a more prominent place...

Using 9B with some short test pieces I found on Scarlet user. They integrate fine (drop 'n' drag) but, occasionally, one of the media bin thumbs turns bright red (255/0/0!) when I double-click to shift it to the trimmer. Drop it to the TL and the same happens to the thumbs there. Once it occurs, the rest soon follow suit and I just get black on the preview window. Needs a restart from there...

Some kind of random or known bug?

Sounds like you are running short on memory. If your'e using xp this will happen. And if not are you using the 64bit version? I found the problem dissapeared once i ungraded to 64bit.

Thanks for reply.

Doesn't surprise me - the spec is pretty shitty:

Intel Core 2 T5300 @ 1.73 GHz
1 GB RAM
Win XP Pro SP 3 (pretty sure it ain't 64Bit / virtual memory up to 1,500 MB)
Vegas 9b

Would low memory cause this kind of crash?

Ya... bad spec. You need at least 4 gigs to run well and be able to crop without it freaking out. And obviously need either vista or windows 7 ultimate.

Why do I 'need' Vista or Win 7? If it runs fine on XP 64 Bit, I ain't touching another OS.

i'm on xp 64 bit... very happy with it.. it performs way better than any of the new os's microsoft have made... vista IS winxp with a lot of hiss and piss. Win 7... same..

I still don't see the vista or win 7 advantage.

I'm running windows 7 64bit. From xp it really performs well and is more like xp and not crappy vista. I avoided vista but I am getting better render results so far out of win 7.
