Hi folks,
I've got a project that I am trying to color grade on my system. I am trying to get by without a studio monitor, just my dual 19" LCDs. When I burn a DVD, the contrast is too high and the gamma is too low. I am exporting from Vegas with Main Concept MPG2 and burning with DVD Architect. I can't get the colors to match at all!

I have a hunch that it is an issue with Color Space. My footage is RedSpace and 32-bit (video level).

Here are my specs:
i7 920
GeForce 7600
12gigs Ram

Anyone have any luck with SD DVD's?

Some off the shelf DVD encoders attempt to "help" your image pop by automatically adding contrast and reducing gamma.

This is both to make it look sharper and reduce the visible MPEGII artifacts.

I have created custom settings in the various packages I use to counter this. Do some experiments and make sure you view your DVDs in as many real world environments as possible.

Best of luck!

I think my problem is that I wasn't viewing my images in studio RGB. Here is a good article about Vegas color space. A must read if you are new to the program. http://www.glennchan.info/articles/vegas/v8color/vegas-9-levels.htm
