just curious, was the red profile for apple shot on the red
because it looks pretty clean
i thought this when i first saw the profile and watched it about a dozen times : )
thanks jim or anyone else from red who can answer
p.s. its been playing on a loop at the apple store i go to, crazy!

I remember a thread about this long ago.. I think it was varicam I'm not sure but definately not Red.

pretty sure it was Varicam - Apple shoots lots of those videos on Varicam -Apple's videos look so good because the LIGHT very, very well -

Yep- mostly Varicam with good lenses, nice lighting and really nice color correction.

Red shoots 10 times the amount of pixels than Varicam. It will look ridiculously better than Varicam.

not if you're watching the videos online like everyone else. by the time you scale and compress it, varicam is not much different than red unfortunately.

Yes, definition wouldn't change that much in that case.
It's the sensor (latitude and 35mm DOF) which could make a difference, but I'm not sure it would make such a huge difference in that particular case (controlled environnement and lighting)...

Well of course starting from the 4K resolution, web video from Red should look as good or better(assuming lenses, lighting, composition, color correction are well done) as any of the 1080p trailers from 35mm films you see on http://www.apple.com/trailers/
But the real obvious difference between something shot on Red and something shot on a 720p camera like the Varicam will be more apparent on the big screen where the level of magnification is much higher than on a computer screen.
