Ok so if I lived to be 100 do you think I'd ever see something like that?

Man, that was a pretty amazing bit. Lions, Crocodiles and buffalo and when it was all over nobody died! LOL.

What makes it great is that it is a grand epic arc of perfect storytelling bravado, arranged by chance.

I feel sort of bad for the lions, but that's just me. I always root for any mammal predators, unless, of course, I happen to be the intended prey...

That is one of the most astonishing things I have ever seen. Just awesome.

One of my dreams is to take a RED to Africa for 2 years to shoot lion, leopard, croc and other footage.

Back in the early part of this decade I edited together a similar type of video called Lion vs Hyena war....

This was done with a VHS rip from a TV show and Premiere 5.5, if I recall. It was the first video I ever really edited.

unbelievable!

The only thing that would have made it better is if the lion got tossed into the river and th alligator got him. That would've been badass.

When you guys go to South Africa, let me know. I know a couple people involved in the whole wildlife thing...

Why don't we organise a RedUser Safari lol. Take about 20 jeeps and 40 crew and cameras out there. :)

I'm down!

When I was in Tanzania I met up with some US special operations guys who had the most awesome setup of all time. They were "training" in Botswana and had a hardtop hummer with a fold out "deck" on top of the roof. They would drive that thing out onto the savannas in Botswana as the sun was setting, fold out their roof, set up some lawn chairs and an ice-cold keg on the "patio" roof and watch as elephants, lions and giraffes walked by them in front of the setting sun.

I always dream of doing that myself! :)

Hehe. Sounds like fun. And then I get visions of a noisy, dusty mob of 40 jeeps cruising the savannah and all the animals scattering when they first hear it. We would get tons of beautiful 4K footage of grass, dirt, mud and acacia trees. It will be wonderful.

I read the whole story in the paper this morning with some published photographs taken of the incident. If your interested to see the shots you can find them at http://www.negativespace.com/gallery2/v/new/battle/

Just imagine what the footage would be worth if it was shot using the Red?
Fantastic footage non the less; it's all about being in the right place at the right time and having a camera handy.
