Very easy question. Will RED open up to allow third-party companies to interface with the EPIC modules?

I'm naturally assuming they'd have to be approved by RED; I'm not asking if it will be "open-source" ;-)

Would absolutely love to have something like a wireless HD transmitter. There are MANY modules I could think of.

It's obviously technically possible, but the interface requirements would have to be very detailed and airtight to avoid inadvertent damage to the camera or the module, both mechanically and electronically.

Electronically, third parties would have to build in as much protection against reverse polarity, short circuit, overcurrent, under/overvoltage, & voltage spikes, etc, as possible, and be responsible for damage of course. However, RED really should do the same in terms of self protection because you never know when a third party (or RED) module may be turn out to be inadequately designed or go faulty.

The V-like mechanical interface also needs to be much better than the RED battery plates, and ideally metal. It needs to be easy to engage/disengage, but not sloppy, yet self-adjusting to wear & tear.

None of this is trivial!
