Hey Guys, Check out this new Review from Ted on the RED101 DVD:
Good additional resources for RED ONE learning and preparing yourself before you shoot.
I want to mention to those visiting this thread, a couple of other valuable ways to learn about RED.
*Jay A. Kelley produced (and stars in :-) *the RED 101 DVD - it's quite comprehensive and a good starting point if you like an audio / visual way of learning. *Jay is a super early RED ONE adopter that works with his camera professionally on a regular basis, He really knows the gear and how to use it.
It's not meant to be a learning tool for those already well versed in the camera (although it's a good refresher for those like me that work with the camera in some fashion almost every day) It's well designed and executed to give you the run down of the camera, its functionality, the menu structure etc. * It covers how to set up projects and use the internal tools of the RED ONE to expose the camera, set up the camera for various styles of shooting for different types of projects and deliverables and a number of other needed areas of learning to be ready to get great results from your RED ONE shooting.
The DVD covers quite a lot of info, and Jay is on camera talking to you for a lot of the video - His homespun style is fun and enjoyable, it's not a a flat, boring instructional DVD - he's got lots of his personality weaved in there. *I would recommend taking watching it in small to medium sized chunks, and not watching it all in one sitting, while having the RED ONE operations manual as a reference point to review each section that's covered (a free download here: *http://www.red.com/support)
Jay covers the RED pretty much from all angles to get you primed and ready to shoot, and a bunch of 3rd party gear as well. *Note that RED did not have a hand in producing this, so there are some things in his video we may not totally agree with (different opinions on certain things is what makes life interesting), but overall I wouldn't recommend it if if didn't do a good job handling the material and covering what is needed to make the right choices when jumping into RED, which it does very well.
I'm thrilled to announce that the RED101 DVD IS NOW SHIPPING.
We've loaded this DVD with a lot of stuff.

If you are wondering, these are not "comsumer reports" objective reviews. We only included stuff we love, so we say so.
A uniques "jump" feature which allows you to jump into more in depth modules on certain subjects, and then you are put back where you were in the main program when compelted. This allows you to control more of the pacing when viewing.
This project took over 6 months to produce and contains over 3 hours of information.
We designed it as a "start up" program. Perfect for people who have recently purchased their RED, people interested in the RED system, and finally renter's who want to take the camera out, and would like a more in-depth "walkthrough" of it before shooting.
We also include a PDF document which walks you through setup of the menus and gets you shooting at 4k 24fps, and there is a video module which also walks you through this document and shows samples on screen.
Some of you may wonder if newer builds will cause problems.. No, we deal mainly with major features that do not seem to change all that much. Newer builds should not screw you up.
Following Jim's lead, when we built the DVD we chose not to make a LONG 3 hour program, but instead a number of smaller modules that you can watch in any order. We feel this will allow you to focus on your interest, and make the program your own. Just like RED!
You can order at: www.red101dvd.com/order
In a way, many of you on here were a large part of this DVD.. I hope you all enjoy it.

Jay.. great work man. Im excited to see this one, you have a very rare talent that makes even "should-be really boring" content incredibly fun to watch.
Glad someone finally did this for the RED ONE... its something every camera owner (or renter) should have.

Trust me people, this RED 101 DVD is "must have" info for those new to the RED One camera! In my opinion a well-done DVD or video like this seriously trumps other ways of getting info on the camera. There's just something about learning through video and audio that seems to really sink into and stay with viewers.
Jay has done an excellent job with this DVD. It was a passion that took him half a year to complete. I've previewed it - in fact I contributed to it. I recently spent three days at Jay's studio in St Louis and out in locations nearby, while Jay and his crew shot the segments for my Hybrid Build and Overview module.
Outside of donating three days of my time and equipment to my friend Jay for this, I have no connection whatsoever to his DVD, nor do I stand to gain any pay from my contribution. I like it that way - he's a real good friend, and I was way happy to contribute to his DVD.
While I was in St Louis, Jay previewed a lot of the other modules for me. They're way cool - quick, good breadth of topics, informative, insightful, humorous at times, scripted well, shot well, etc.
Cool stuff...

Thanks for those kind thoughts Richard and Lim...I think the Hybrid module will open a lot of minds to alternate ways to setup and use RED One.
The Hybrid style of shooting uses 35mm stills lenses minimally accessorized (no MB or FF), just the other accessories that are absolutely necessary (to increase mobility), and operating techniques that are a synthesis of non-hardlined EFP-style, digital stills style, and cine-style. The increased simplicity and mobility of the setup and techniques opens up a wide variety of shot concepts, location options, and genre possibilities.
Even though the combined total of Hybrid and EFP production is far and away the most common type of motion media production, up to now those styles have been almost completely overlooked in the books and seminars teaching RED One production options. I'm really happy that Jay had the foresight to include Hybrid in his DVD.
Hybrid is just one portion of Jay's DVD. The rest is a broad and deep overview of all the other more commonly profiled options - cine style, post, accessories, and tons more.
For someone new to RED One, no matter what their background is, or goals in the motion media industry they have, there's a lot of cool info in Jay's DVD.

I'm not going to pull any punches here... Shipping is high (Edit as of 11/06/09 we have lowered the shipping rates). We are not a great deal in shipping.
Here's the reasoning: DVDs of this kind, at this level usually run at or over $100.00 PLUS shipping.
We are $59.95. Our shipping and handleing is tough cause to keep these prices we will have to do it ourselves, and we're not in the business of fulfillment.
Over-seas shipping requires a LOT more work, so it's a bit more (Edit: It's been lowered also...).
When it's all said and done, it's still a very good deal. But I'm afraid the shipping is what it is. I hope everyone will give me a little slack here.

I'm not going to pull any punches here... Shipping is high. We are not a great deal in shipping.
Over-seas shipping requires a LOT more work, so it's a bit more.
So you don't just put it in an envelope and take it to the post office??

Whilst I am a bit surprised by the cost for shipping, your DVD seems very good value, especially compared to what else is out there. Best of luck.

I wish.. We have to fill out a customs form for each one.
This rate is for fast shipping also. 5 days I believe.
There are some other possibilities we are exploring. Should know more in a week or two.
A lot will depend on the rate at which these things move.
There's another surprise coming as well. :)
Jay
One more thing.. A little perspective if you will... Go to the following link and look at the top five items and their prices..
http://www.abelcine.com/store/home.php?cat=356
As I said.. No matter how you cut it.. We're not a bad deal. Nevertheless, we're looking into it. Once we begin shipping (Next week) we'll look at this again.

Great idea. Sounds like a DVD worth purchasing. I was wondering if there are any plans on offering the DVD as a download? Would save costs on your end (I guess) as well as our end (especially shipping) and make it available to watch from anywhere at any time.
Thanks for the effort of putting this thing together.

This is a FANTASTIC question. The answer should be "of course"... But here's the catch:
Our DVD is made in a "non-linear" fashion.. There are "buttons" all through-out the program that you can select using your remote. They jump you into other modules, and then back into the show you were in when it was finished.
This makes is a little tougher to offer as a download as I will need to create a flash file or something and with 3 hours of material, it will be quite large.
Nevetheless, a digital download is still something worth pursueing.
The only other idea I have, it to make a digital master of the DVD and allow you to burn your own.. But that has obvious problems :).
We'll work it out.. Might be a month or two, but we'll get it done.

Hi Jay-
Thanks for making this Training Video for RED(I just ordered it)! I've considered Renting the REDONE but figured I'd spend most of the time just trying to figure it out and not get much productive use out of it my first Rental. So this looks like a good way to get familiar with RED. I'm also planning to get a Scarlet when they become available-but in the meantime I think this is a good place to start learning how to go RED...!

ps:maybe this could be a start to more dvds(i'd be interested)...

Please make sure you keep in contact with me. I'll let you know when I ship (Should be late next week)
If this one does well, we will be onto epc and scarlet also!

Eric's a ham... He came out for three days, and no matter which direction I aimed the camera... There he was...
I'M KIDDING! Eric and ARRI were INCREDIBLY supportive of this project.
Eric is a very forward thinking individual. Most companies would have simply said "They're competition, stay away" but Eric understands this business better than most and realized that a lot of ARRI'S largest customers own RED'S. So he said "Whatever we can do to help" and he really meant it.
ARRI, Element Technical, Birger Engineering, DSCLabs, and Cool lights all become wonderful friends and supporters to me and this project, I don't know what I would have done without them.
If you guys end up liking this DVD (Which I hope and pray you do) please remember it was the work and support of a lot of people and some great companies that made it happen.
I hope this DVD will stand out among others as a truly aggressive piece of work, that you will be able to say "damn, there's a lot here, and I've never seen it done this way.. This guy busted his ass on this thing."
My partner in crime, Zach and I would turn to each other at the end of a day, (Which usually went 14 hours 6 days per week) and day "It may be good, it might suck, but we did our best.. We let nothing go".
Could we have put more in? Sure, but with RED that will always be the case.. At one point we simply had to say... Enough.
As Lucas once said, projects are never finished.. only Abandoned.

Jay you think you might make another specificly for the new line of Red cameras?
Jay A. Kelley
10-23-2009, 04:55 AM
Hi Jonathon,
This is the $60,000 question. Our INTENTION is to say "Yes". However due to the size and complexity of these projects, I.E. RED is in a class all it's own, it took 7 months to do.. We're going to need to see how many numbers we can move of RED101 DVD before we can begin plans for Scarlet / Epic.
Another factor is that with RED the Goal Posts move a LOT. They are always changing and always updating. Many have suggested that I should go to an ONLINE setup instead of DVD.
I've put a lot of thought into this, and while I like Online stuff, I do not feel it's a replacement for DVD media. The DVD still allows for a little more freedom than a computer file. I do believe that someday I will offer an online file in ADDITION to DVD but I do not expect online (Or downloadable media) to replace a good DVD set any time soon.
The Epic / Scarlet DVD will be much harder than RED, because of all the new modules, and we'll have to pick the right time to make it.
Jarred was a very strong force in helping me get this done, he's a good friend who had a lot of faith in my ability. .
One thing is for sure, we'd all like to see the next one come out a little sooner.
A lot of people are about to get the RED101 DVD in their hands, and we took some risks in designing it differently than other instructional videos have in the past.. I'll need to see what everyone thinks. If you all like what you see, and sales continue on the track they are on now, then I can promise you one HELL of a dvd on Epic and Scarlet.
We'll all know a lot more in a couple days.
Until then... Buy the DVD! Get it for your friends, neighbors, pets.. Do they use a RED? Cool this is perfect! Can they SAY the word RED? Great, that will do!
:)

It will be a while Pietro. Right now the US Dollar is very weak.. The price for the online version (When it comes, much later) will be the same as the DVD. If the dollar goes up, what you save in Taxes you may lose in the currency exchange.
Something to thik about. I cannot believe how many overseas sales we are getting. This may be why

I saw the entire DVD and learned so much from it. *It's a definite must have for anyone using Red.
A couple of questions though. I've been told that the two bolts that hold the red handle can break. *Is this true? *What's the weight capacity that this handle can support? *ie when lugging around a fully loaded 40 lb Red.
In the video, you used a DSCLab chip chart to make adjustments to a clip. *What software were you using to bring the colors to there respective spots in the vectorscope hexigon? *I couldn't recognize it but it looked windows based.
Thanks for a good product.

Luis... You are at the top of my "Good People" list...
Someone once told me: "If no one posts on your thread, it means they are busy using what you sent..."
So I know it took some effort to come on here and say something, but it's really helpful when you do. So thank you.. To everyone else, I'd love to hear from you!
Now about your questions:
I have never had one of those bolts break off, anywhere, let alone the handle. It may be a good idea to ask someone in the RED camp (Jarred? you out there) if there is a maximum weight load on the handle, but personally I am willing to guess it's far beyond whatever load you could put on it without breaking your wrist!
As for the software I used, it was Color Finesse on Adobe Premiere. It's fantastic software if you are color correcting on the cheap.

For added strength, no matter what weight setup I have RED in, I always use the handle extension. That gives me four bolts supporting the weight of the camera below, rather than two. The extension is inexpensive and adds hardly any weight to the rig.

It's great. I love the info buttons when they come up. Good touch. I bought a Gearnex gear head because of it. Very good info. Over all grade for the DVD101 is an "A"
To be an "A+" I would like to see some examples of simple set ups and choosing iso, shutter, fps, etc. and talk about the outcome. I found some obscure video of Ted from RED talking to this guy in London about the RED and they were using one set up outside by a river. I learned more in that conversation he had than many so called tutorials out there.
He showed how to use the spot meter and what the numbers mean, etc. How you can't shoot the RED like video and why. Then he SHOWED why. Some times I think people talking about the RED assume all of us who own them have been to film school. There are a lot of us who own them who need some basic training. I wish they wouldn't assume we know stuff.
I like that you were elementary with your approach, hence "101"
I would just like to see via examples of how to shoot with RED effectively. Some basic shot set ups that will be full proof to get a good shot. (aside from artsy fartsy stuff) I would like to buy and use a color chart, but I don't know how or what I'm looking for when I shoot the chart.
Bottom line is I'm the creative director type who happens to own a RED. I use FCP to edit and I know my way around that pretty well. I'm one of those guys who just needs to know how to drive the car. I don't need to know the theory behind how the engine works nor do I desire to get under the hood and work on the engine. (that's why I like Apple Computers) When I get behind the RED I just want to be able to drive the thing. I understand that you HAVE to know SOME theory, but for things like the color chart, I think I can understand the basics if I was simply told each step involved. Sorry for the long explanation.
I love your product. Please make more and I'll purchase them. Thanks for listening.
If you know someone who can simply explain how to use a color chart, I would love to buy the book or DVD. Thanks. Keep up the good work.

Hi Jay, I was just wondering - how much of the DVD is applicable to the R1 only? Or another way of putting it, how much of this DVD can I apply to using the Scarlett or Epic? Would it be better to wait for the other Scarlett/Epic versions to come out, or would purchasers of this DVD now get some kind of a discount when the other versions come out? Thanks.

Hmmmm...The DVD is for those interested in the R1 and how it works / goes together / accessories.
We DO offer a LOT of information on accessories for the R1, AND we let you know if the accessories we review will work on Scarlet and Epic.
Nevertheless, if you are thinking of buying this DVD only for the information it gives you for Epic / Scarlet, then I woudl advise against that. It won't do you justice.
Hope this helps.

If your computer has a DVD player then you can play it. This is the best way to use it anyway as there are some DVD-ROM extras on the disk that are only accessible via a computer anyway.

Mitch is dead on about this.. He also one of the few that took the time to notice the EXTRAS on Disc One.. I wonder sometimes if anyone has seen this stuff?
It's a region ZERO DVD...So it should work on almost anything.
But Mitch is right.. Playing it on a computer may give you the most back.

I has finished watching the DVD and I must say that it is very well put together and very informative. He love the Info button part where you can click and get better understanding of certain stuff he was teaching about. I also like the fact that he showed different 3rd party gears one can use with the Red one.
Speaking of third party, JAy can you recommend some cool lights LED kits for someone setting up a studio to interior and exterior shooting. I noticed you are using them to light up your set. So can you give me the configurations you think are necessary to have as a kit. I am kinda confused on how whether to go with 5600k Flood or 5600 spot or 3200 Spot or 3200 flood. And how many i might need as a start up kit.. Also, are the HMI 1200 a must have at this point.
I am asking you all these cos I see you recommended them on your DVD.

I'm more into learning about post production with RED media, but I may get this DVD set to get a better understanding of everything-RED, can't hurt.
What about a DVD like this for post workflows? Talk about the needed hardware and recommended 3rd party software? From when the DIT gets the media, to the dailies, to the offline, to the online, to delivery formats and everything in between. Does something like this already exist (other than this awesome website)?

Wow guys.. I don't know what to say here.
First thanks for the specific and wonderful reviews.. They really help me alot.
Now for the post DVD. There's no doubt that this is something that's needed, and it's also a good thing in that we do not expect Epic or Scarlet to change a lot in the way of post so that's cool.
The problem up to now has been that post is a moving target. There has been SO MUCH technology on Post and SO many changes in the last few months, that we worry every time we put something together, it would be obsolete by the time it went to print.
Think about Apple and their updates. And then think about REDCine-X that just came out.. Then think about REDRocket! Then there's Premiere Pro, Vegas, and Assimilate's changes etc.
Where would you want us to start? And then, where would you want us to stop?
In this case a digital download would be a better idea, but I don't do "Little Videos" with a couple days editing. When we make something, every segment takes us 30-40 hours to make so we'd be charging something like $15-$35 dollars for a segment.
Perhaps you should communicate with Chris at Digital Cinema Lessons and tell him what you want to see and perhaps he can find someone to make a video on it.
I'm not saying "no" we had PLANNED a post section when we did the DVD, but it did not take long to see it was problematic. Now looking back, had we tried to make it, it would have been a disaster. :scared:
Jay
One question: If we WERE to do a post DVD on RED. What would you want to see!?

The additional Motion Portraits DVD was nice to get as well, that I kept and will watched later tonight, I like the title as I love " FIRE" he he.
Gibby was right, this is something every "RED ONE" Owner and or want to be one, and or want to rent one, should get this!

Well Richard send me a 150W HMI, so I have experience with that, and we love it. For a kit, I would recommend 4 LED 600s. 3 floods and one spot. I think he's selling some minus greens with frames.. Get those also. And be sure to get the battery plate for them.. Those things are a GOD send and will power your Light for up to an HOUR on a brick.
Hope this helps.

Yes Norman, we are slated to do DVDs on Scarlet and Epic.. I think you will see a lot of people try to do DVDs on them. We figured we'd "Prove Ourselves" and make our name on the RED One.. This way when people see we have produced videos for the new cameras, they will be confident we know what we're doing.

Has anyone watched the software setup module on disk one.. Anyone catch the shot where we turned the camera on and waited for it to boot up...
The crew an I always laugh pretty hard during that shot. I left it in there cause it was REAL TIME waiting for the camera to boot.. I felt like that once when they were ready to go on set and we had to reboot the camera.
Oh well.. I thought it was funny...
Tim did you see it?

Jarred's favorite part is the blooper reel on disk 2.. That may have something to do with the fact that there's no whole lot about the RED he does not already know.

Hey Guys... If you have not seen it, check out this review from Ted at RED:
Thanks for the great review Ted!

Just got through 1/2 of DVD1, very very helpful DVD for a newcomer like me to the RED, I liked how you use easy to understand language so you don't get lost in jargon, the demonstrations are wonderful (monkey see monkey do, right?) and nice touch of humor in there to make it entertaining to watch!
Just wanted to say thanks again Jay for this lovely production, I'll be good to go when we do our hire for our shoot and the lady goes "You used this before?" lol

I'm thrilled you liked it Kieth!
It was a lot of work, but I have to say it's been worth it big time. If you are a member over at Amazon, then please do me a favor and head over there and search for RED101. Then throw down this nice review.. It helps!
Take care!

Want to give you all an idea as to where the DVD is and how it's been doing.
The DVD has exceeded everyone's expectations. Everyone seems to get a lot out of it, and it's doing well.
HOWEVER: Many of you have written/called/smoke signaled me about what you want to see, and what you are looking for now.
I hear ya... I'm on it.
I cannot go into too many details cause everyone may jump on this.
What I CAN tell you is that we are making a NEW DVD as a supplament to the current series in order to address those things that people are looking for.
While this DVD will be able to stand on it's own, it will refer to a number of modules that are in the RED101.
Current RED101 customers will get a discount on this DVD, and people that buy them both as package will get a discount as well.
I hope to have more to tell you in the coming 2 weeks.. So stay tuned.
If you are looking to buy a RED101 now, do not worry about the new DVD, you will get the discount either way.

PS you are welcome to tell me what you are looking for in a training DVD.. It has to be in the film / video industry, but I am always open.

I want to say that after I post this, I will be moving to a small island with no reference to the outside world. In my own defense I would say "Jim, please don't stick the dogs on me for this, I've used the camera for a long time, and I do NOT consider this to be the "only way" it's just an option for a specific purpose".
That said, with the addition of Build 30, RED gave us a CLEAN HD-SDI OUT. This opens some serious options for those of us who may be required to deliver footage same day for certain corporate clients. Here's the result of some testing I have done.
(this info will most likely be on the next DVD, but I wanted to put it here for my RED101 peeps!)
We decided to test the Nano Flash for recording off the RED HD-SDI port. We spent 5 hours testing it yesterday, here were the concerns and results:
• Unlike other cameras, RED is both downsizing, and debayering it’s image BEFORE it goes to HD-SDI port. Question: Would the quality be “recordable” or simply a visual reference.
o To answer this we put the RED next to a Varicam, and monitored the HD-SDI out using DSCLabs chart and models.
o ANSWER: The quality of the HD-SDI out of the RED is as good or slightly better than the varicam. Which allowed us to move to the next step.
• Since RED owners are used to a certain quality level, we checked the HD-SDI out against a fully developed RED R3d file downrezzed to 720p for comparison
o Results: RED’s R3d file was much sharper and cleaner in quality that the HD-SDI out.
o ANSWER: Using the HD-SDI out on the RED is a realistic replacement for a normal broadcast camera, but NOT for RED’s R3D files.
• Will the NanoFlash record the video feed from RED running at 23.97
o ANSWER: No. Not the current build. But I read that a beta build that’s currently out might (I get “intermittent source” warnings on the current build)
• Will the NanoFlash record the video feed from RED running at 29.97
o YES. No problems at all.
• How well does sound sync?
o Unknown at this time. .We have not yet tested sound.
• Additional info: We tested both the 50Mbs and 100Mbs bit rates going to QuickTime and then testing on Final Cut Pro.. We saw no real differences in quality. And Final Cut played the files with no issues.
• IMPORTANT NOTE: It is advisable that you must STILL record to a RED hard drive or CF card when recording sound for both back up purposes, AND to avoid FAN NOISE from the camera.
Final recommendations: Between the addition of Build 30’s clean HD-SDI out, and products like the Nano-Flash, RED has just opened a new door for more fast turnaround work. Not only that, but now you have a way to take advantage of RED's AMAZING look thereby "spanking" the HVX200, 300, EX3 crowd but still offering "edit friendly" files at the end of the day.
A $300 64gb Delkin card will give you excellent 50Mbit quality for over 80min of record time.
One last time: There is a noticable difference in quality between an R3D file and a recorded image off the HD-SDi port. So using the method I described does NOT get the most out of your RED. It does compare favorablely (Or better) to other broadcast cameras out there.
Good luck! Let me know if you have any questions.
Jay
RED Guys... THANK YOU for putting this feature on... The revenue my camera just increased by 30% in 24 hours.
One more: There are OTHER recording sources available.. I will be posting info about them as I get them.

Thanks for your test. Maybe it is time for the DSR-570 to retire?
Did you by any chance get to test 25 fps?

No not yet Martin, but for YOU... I will try to do so.. I am TOLD it will work.
But so far I have only had luck wth 29.97...
I need to test sound sync also.. This will all happen tonight.
I have THREE jobs I am replacing with RED now that I have this new feature.
Sweet...

Great Discovery, Jay. Thanks for sharing it.
Just noticed that you didn't mention what quality you were recording at on the camera. Does it make a difference in the quality of the HD-SDI out image when you record 2k or 4k?
Jay A. Kelley
03-13-2010, 07:31 AM
I do not think it does Elsie.. Also another cool feature is that you can select 3k or 2k to "zoom in" on the HD-SDI with NO quality loss!

Can't you just manually set the fan to "SILENT"?
Jay A. Kelley

Sadly no.. At least I have no luck doing this.. Even on silent the fans continue to roar away..
Perhaps others will have a different experience.

For those of you that are interested, I will be a NAB with a few online "buddies" and we'll have some RED101 DVDs on hand. We are not allowed to sell on the floor, but if you can find me (You will see me wearing a shirt with the DVD on it) I'll give you a card with a discount and perhaps I might "just happpen to have" a DVD on me.
We'll also have details about a new DVD for you Epic and Scarlet fans that should be coming out later this summer.
This will be a cool way to save some coin, and avoid shipping costs!
Looking forward to seeing you there!

I'm a recent RED Owner and I'm really interested in buying the DVD. Quick question:
What build is the camera in the RED 101 DVD?
Sorry, if this has already been answered

I think it's 21.. We will have a new DVD coming out soon to address this.. Current RED101 DVD owners will be taken care of. (Cost of new DVD for current owners- less than $20)

Got the discs, watched most of it.
First things first...Jay, I'm glad that filmmaking, and not comedy, is the source of your livelihood :p
Second, I thought the disc was a great primer on the R1 and helped to explain things in a pretty understandable way for even my wife.
Thanks,
Andrew

Guys we are in the process of creating online files of the RED101 DVD for ordering. We will have a number of types, and will take special care to make Iphone versions for those of you that need that sort of thing.
I have no idea on costs yet, but I will keep you all informed.

We are in the process of getting the RED101DVD to be available for download. File formats will include a file for those of you who want to view the modules on your Iphone.
The reason we are doing this is to allow those people with shipping issues a way to avoid the problem, and a way to allow you to "take the modules with you" and use them on set.
Some have asked for discounts... The only discounts will be for those people who have already purchased a RED101 DVD.. They can get the files for $24.99 if they want them.
Contact me at:
production at dreamwelder dot com to inquire about an order.. We do not have an order / download system in place yet, but I can do it manually for you until it is. We expect the files to be ready to go by Wednesday or Thursday of next week.
Thanks!

Will there be a release of an updated Red 101 DVD to include information about the Scarlet and Epic systems once they are released?
Jay A. Kelley
07-23-2010, 04:40 AM
Yes.. There will be a new DVD for Epic, and the Fixed lens Scarlet.
Also we are under-goinig some major changes which will take place next week.
We will be rolling out the RED101 Electronic Files for Download. Cost will be the same as the DVD minus shipping. Plus we're adding a NEW item for the Online Customers:
RED101 DVD... ONLINE! We're re-making the DVD so that you can access the DVD via the web using your computer, Ipad, or Iphone. You will have one year of access to this for the cost of the DVD files. If you are already a customer, then you will be able to use this at a reduced rate (Not sure what this will be yet).
Hope to have all this tied up by next week.
