DV tape repair

I have some DV tapes I shot last year that now will not play. The tape is not tangled or messed up or anything like that, someone told me it might be due to mixing various coatings/brands of tapes in one deck.

the tapes hold some of the most valuable footage to me in my life, and I'm looking for a very reputable place to send the tapes to get the footage digitized.

So what is the problem? Are they playing back but you get no picture at all - or dropped frames? Have you tried different players? Have your tried running a cleaning tape through the player?

tried playing off the cam we shot it with, and tried playing off a DV clamshell deck. both of them flash some kind of error icon and eject the tape. the tapes are super valuable so i just stopped right there and didnt try anything else, i think i'd rather give it to someone who does it for a living than mess with some tape cleaner on my own
