Hello together,
Actually I’m looking for a new camera, and I love the Red One very much. But as a Red-Rookie I have a few questions about it:
1.) Delivery time: It’s great to see that some people here ordered the Red so early. How long have I to wait for that cam when I will order it now or at IBC? Looks like that I will get a contract for a new project which has to be finished about middle 2008…. I don’t like the idea to buy an HPX500 for that project, because I need the higher frame rates for slow-motions.
2.) Slow-motions in 1080p: When I’m using the Redcode in combination with the Reddrive I see in the specs that you can use only the 120fps when you are filming in 720p. My finished product has to be 1080p60 (or 1080p50) for “future safe TV-use” and I don’t like to up-convert the 720p footage.
I would need the chance to film 1080p100/120 (or 2K) to have nice slow-motions in my videos. Is there really no chance to do this (maybe just for 10 seconds of recording time or similar) with the use of the Red-Drive?
Or do you think that it will still look nice, to do the slow motions in post production (I need about 50-60% speed only, but they have really to look good, because I need them very often for what we like to film)
We are filming on locations around the world I don’t like the idea to carry a heavy Raid-Server with me, just to record the data from the Raw Port Module. It already happens to me that they closed a whole airport-terminal in Frankfurt for a couple of hours, because they though I had a bomb in my equipment! Think a Red-One with the Bazooka-looking Premium-Production-Pack will cause enough trouble on the airports  . No need to take a Server with me.
3.) Will there be a plug-in to support the Redcode in Premiere Production Suite 3? I like the idea to have a short preview of the footage directly after recording on a laptop in my hotel room. Will this be possible?
In our Studio I like to use Premiere in combination with an AJA 2KCard.
4.) Underwater housing: Does anybody here have more information’s about his? Is there maybe a brand who already worked on this topic or a pre-production Red-One to have the chance to be the first on the market who can deliver it?
I hope you could help to find the answers to my questions.
Best wishes,
Swen
