Hi Michael !

I see this effect also when I playback RAW Footage in REDCINE or ROCKETCINE that when panning or objects moving horizontal through the picture that there are horizontal disturbancies or strokes. It looks like that the progressive signal is not correct displayed on the computer monitors feeded from the graphics card. The SDI outputs are normal.

The interesting thing is, when I convert with Redrushes the horizontal strokes are nearly not visible.... so it looks like Redrushes makes a different signal in the DNxHD QT files than Rocketcine and Redcine.....

Any Hint ?

thx
Rainer

Do you mean strobing, where it looks like the image is flashing?

If the SDI output looks fine, it should be fine. Does it still look OK after transcode through the SDI output? If so, I would say it's probably just an artifact of your computer monitor's refresh rate.

Hi Charles !

Thx for advice, it seems thats the problem, but since I cant get a Signal out of my DVI ports on the Rocket I have to wait till the AJA converter comes from HD-SDI to DVI / HDMI. So I can see the REALITY also on a non SDI monitor!!!!!!!

best,

There can be AV sync issues with playback on the computer monitor that look like "hits" or a line from time to time. Real determination will be done via the HD-SDI output.

thx... Michael thats it,... thats the reason why i ordered an AJA HDP2 converter to see the HD-SDI signal from the rocket. But that doesnt help me with the mediacomposer software only solution, where I want to use the desktop preview on the second DVI monitor. We are currently shooting a 24p project, but my CG243 should able to display 24p. Could that be solved with a better graphics card like the GT130 from nvidia? I'm using at the moment the GT8800.

thx rainer

There are other issues that need to be addressed for that to be solved. Let me see what third party solutions might exist.

Thx Michael.... I heard on the rocket front they try to improve tearing on desktop preview....

Some computers monitors can't do 24p directly at all. We've found the NEC
Spectraview and some of their other monitors to have some of the widest display rate ranges around.

My EIZO CG243w is capable of 24p. And I see tearing there over the graphics card as well. Via DVI out of the rocket its without any issues and totaly ok.

I hear some uses are using the Matrox to create SDI off of DVI with success. I have not done this myself, so cannot say for sure.

Sorry, but putting a converter in solves not for everybody who want to use desktop preview the problem.....
