Can anyone recommend a good insurance company in the UK that will insure our Red One when it arrives? Also, what kind of premium we should be expecting to pay - you know what some of these insurance companies are like ;-).

Cheers

We got our insurance through them. It was less then $600 for the year.

In the UK, I am using Hiscox.
Not sure about the price, because my policy covers lots of other stuff too.

Hey Antony,

If it's not too intrusive could you PM me with how much your premium is and what you get for it? I just want to make sure we don't get ripped off.
No problem if you'd prefer not to. :-)

I'm going to have to bump this.

Not wanting to steal the thread off Damian, but this is a massive concern for me as well. I'm in England, and I'm renting a Red One in December, along with a set of Zeiss Superspeeds (MKIII), all the usual Red accessories and some lighting/sound equipment form a single company.

Our budget is being stretched as is, I just wondered if people could help me out in the insurance department as I've never had to do this before?

What would be the cheapest way to go about this? Would it be possible to stick all of this on say home insurance if it was broken down? No-one is getting paid, I'm financing the film all off my own back, it's more a fun project if anything.

Any help would be greatly appreicated!

Allain Chapman James - excellent insurance for all film and tv gear, from a specialist company. Expect to pay around £1500 a year covering public liability and £50,000 worth of gear.
