This may be slightly off-topic, but have you realized we don't have a good verb to describe the REd digital workflow? When you shoot film, you are "filming." When you shoot tape, you are "taping." How do we concisely describe digital cinema workflow?

I had a friend ask about the Red workflow yesterday and it took me three sentences to describe. Don't you think this community should be the one to develop a new verb to describe the process of digital cinematography?

I like shooting but might use aquire or footage aquisition depending on who I'm talking to (client or crew). Hard disk (S2 for example) "tape ops" are referred to as something like digital aquisition techs.

I had an inside joke with a director on the last dramatic P2 shoot I did. He brought up the same question. I was trying to train him to say "Lets set or reset some flip flops." You can say "Fill some memory"... kind of lame. "Spin a drive." is cooler. But I mostly just say "Ready to burn one." I feel like that covers all the bases.

When I get to a phrase you like just yell "Woof".

(Note: Flip flops are the basic circuit of memory, I don't know if this also applies to Flash and P2)

Wait a minute man. Does the verb "record" come from vinal LP's. I think its the other way around.

Some times you got to sling it on set. I'm toying now with "Flip some" as in "Let's".

You could say "continue the revolution" I guess, if you love RED that much. As in "Last looks everybody, this one is for the revolution."

You might even say "Let's use this real system NOW." But thats more an F23 thing than a RED thing

I like "lets burn one", but in my youth that meant something completely different.

I don't know about the rest of you, but I'll be "Ripping from Reality".

I fully expect the credits on my films will feature the tag line
"Ripped from reality using a RED ONE. No tape stock was exposed during the making of this film."

Kinda stolen from the CG world - but how about "baking"?
IE Let's bake a take.
