It would be good for Ted to explore the " Super-valued " 3rd parties accessories for the RED one like Cage, Batteries, Rigs, Jib Arms, Dollys, RD lights, RED Mics, RED Cases/Bags/Underwater - case/ Tripods anything you name it for cost - saving ( At least for the poor shooting locations in the developing countries )
Don't forget CHINA has a huge RED map in the world.
Will meet Ted soon in HKG on the 24th August 2007.

I think a lot of Red accessories will be made in China. My guess is that the stuff we saw at NAB like the old cage is already made in China. I wouldn't be surprised if the CNC machined Red One body is also being made in China. The CMOS, processor and main board might be made somewhere else such as Korea or Taiwan.
When people in the states talk about "Made in China", they'd think cheap and crappy. Not quite so. That perception has to change. Chinese make cool stuff as long as you know how to QA/QC them. Apple's stuff are pretty much all made in China these days and they're beautiful. Oakley's a lot of products are also made in China.

All kinds of nice things are made in China, basically every high end Master Replicas Star Wars collectible is made in China, but it's carefully quality controlled. There have been QC issues that resulted in entire shipments being sent back, but in the end the quality was good and in general it usually is great.

LOL
Great shot. Sign painters love that stuff. They say it doesn't fade as fast when exposed to UV.

By 2020 Chinese goods will be as good as Korean or Japanese goods. But in 2007 I don't trust Chinese goods. The lead paint on toys has not outraged people like the toxic pet food scare. That is because we care more about our pets than children. I don't have anything against Stewart making money, but I would feel safer buying a tripod from Italy. Maybe by 2020 I will change my mind.

Then we may need to talk Italians into making them cheaper? :calm:
