excuse my ignorance....does anyone make a box that houses the Red Rocket for stand alone eg. for use with a macbook pro etc?

Yes, there are a few in the works... The Maxx digital guys had a few at REDucation last month and we got to test them out. They have one with just the Rocket and another one with the Rocket and an 8 Disk RAID. They work well... but you are always going to be limited because the Macbook Pro only has a 1x express card channel.

It did play 4k back in realtime off an older Macbook Pro... Steve even hooked it up to the 4k Power Window from technicolor and we watched 4k footage in 4k off a laptop... It was pretty exciting stuff.

Hey Curtis,
Just fyi - the Power Window is from IGI. www.werigi.com. Technicolor does have one of those units, however.
