Drool... For sure. I may just have to offload my D2X (poor resale as it is, ouch) and go for the upgrade. Full frame at last!!! Lots of other great new features by the looks of it too.

And don't forget the D300!

I can't wait to make the jump to the D300 myself. :w00t:
The EXPEED image processing system is at the heart of the D300’s ability to capture and process high definition image data so quickly. The EXPEED system includes both hardware and years of Nikon image processing expertise. The D300 EXPEED system features 14-bit analog-to-digital (A/D) conversion with 16-bit image processing, both of which contribute to delivering results with Nikon’s signature ‘look and feel’ of rich accurate colours, smooth skin gradations and exceptional detail.

I've held off buying a DSLR in wait of the D300. Anyone know what the price on this puppy is?
oh I see, $1799...not bad at all.

Yeah, not too bad! I was about to pull the trigger on a D200, but held off in anticipation of the next model. This is a very nice upgrade if you ask me. I was a little worried after Canon's announcement, but not anymore. Especially with the new lenses. Can't wait and I'm definitely preording this one.

I own a D100. Will the D300 be a big improvement?

I know whatcha mean. Lately I had been feeling a bit of "canon envy" hahaha. But i held on and Nikon finally came through. I forever faithful!!!

Nikon is the Sh!t man. The reason they have have been "lagging" wasn't because they were dragging their heels, they were in development getting the full frame design correct the FIRST time around.... gotta love how those early full frame Canons vignette.

Ok this is too cool...
"Flexible Image Storage
The D3 is the world’s first D-SLR to offer dual CompactFlash card slots for outstanding storage flexibility. A photographer can shoot images to each card one after the other, or simultaneously, as back up. When shooting combined NEF and JPEG files, the NEF image can be written to one card and the JPEG version to the other. Image files can also be selected and copied from one card to the other after shooting."
I've been waiting for this for a long time.... :)

Here's a question...So these new Nikons have live view sensors. And they have HDMI out. Do you suppose that those two could be used at the same time? And if so at what resolution and frame rate. I don't know how either of these features really work so I'm just talking out of my booty, but it seems that the ability of DSLRs to record full rez Red style video is imminent. Probably not for a few years, but...

I was just thinking the same thing!
These new cameras can also form wireless networks! An editor can be monitoring several photographers images while they are shooting, and download what they need. Thats incredible!

Unfortunately, no. From their brochure:
Supports HDMI version 1.3a; Type A connector is provided as HDMI output terminal; simultaneous playback from both the HDMI output terminal and on the LCD monitor not available
