I think for about 800 CHF to 1000 CHF per day, you should be able to get a good RED package with the whole shebang and 1 lens.
The more extras, the more the price will go up.

Remember. A real working package will easely cost you about 65 000 Swissfrancs. That includes 2 Lenses. 4 Bats, 2 Drives, Viewfinder, LCD, Premium Production Package, Mattebox, Filters and a average Tripod.

I think this will be the basic package you must have, in order to realy work professionaly.

I will be renting out my kit but only with me as DP, AC or tech support.

Cheers

Tim

Oh man, I totally forgot about that site! I remember when it first started, I thought it was the coolest thing. They've really grown in the past few years. Thanks for the link!

Hi Muroshi, and anybody in Switzerland looking to rent out a Red One,

Red One No 500 should arrive in November, our primary goal is for our own projects, but it will be available for rent as soon as I have had a chance to test it and the workflow.

I'm looking at CHF 800.- for first day, prices go down as rental time increases.

That would include : Red One, EVF, basic prod pkg, 4 bats, 2 drives, CF module

Options include : a S16 Zeiss 12-120 T2.4 zoom (for 2K windowed only), a complete set of Nikon AI lenses ; and soon : a Mattebox and FF, tripod (1030HD) and hopefully an Angenieux 25-250 f3.2

Initial rentals must include me as tech, AC or operator.

Cheers,
Damien

PS Muroshi, are you in Switzerland, where abouts, and are you planning to rent, for what kind of projects ?

Yes I am in Lucerne, Switzerland. For the moment I only have my personal stuff and I don't need a RED for those, but I'm interested to hear about quotes for the case if a music video with a budget attached comes up.

Hi,

Not much chance, in Switzerland, I am sorry to say.

I know. Small market. And not very gifted bands. :sarcasm:

Very small market but some times very giftet bands.
Musicvideos are much fun to do but not for a linving.
With the Red I will for shure produce some new videoclips but mainly for the showreel and to test the cam.

Cheers

Ouch !

I hope no Swiss bands are reading these forums, and if they are you've lost them as potential clients. (Yes, I know sarcasm...)

Actually I think there are a number of good bands/artists/musicians, however the music scene in Switzerland doesn't really allow for musicians to make a living of their art. I know a few, and it ain't easy. Then again, being an artist is never easy anywhere !

However I heard of a few music videos being shot in the area, with some budget. If it's enough for a Red remains to be seen.

Good luck,
Damien

I know a few good bands here like Lunik, Polar, etc. but most bands are not good enough to market themselves in foreign countries and therefore they haven't enough sold music to afford a video. Well, if there's no money and if it's just showreel material, I rather contact a foreign band and use their song.
