By "24H" I assume you're talking about "24" the Fox TV show?

If so, I can answer with some certainty that it will not be shot on Red.

I work on the show in post production, and even though Rodney would really love to shoot on Red (we spoke about it several times), unfortunately I don't think that the people controlling the money are willing to reinvent our post workflow, just to switch cameras. And I'm not talking about the producers on the show, I'm talking about executives and heads of departments at Fox.

From their point of view it is a successful show with a proven workflow, and Rodney already has great Panavision equipment and all the film he would ever need, so why change. They have the "if it aint broke, don't fix it" mentality. In their defense, I must say that almost anyone in their situation would do the same thing. Given that the show is getting a little long in the tooth it probably isn't the best time to make drastic changes to the production and post production workflow. However, pilots and new shows on the other hand, would be the perfect place to use Red, they have nothing to loose in workflow glitches.

Still it would be great if we did make the move to Red, and you would find none happier than myself. I would love the opporunity to be front and center on a major production and get to learn all about the new workflow associated with Red.

I should start back next week, (unless they push us back again) so I'll be able to give a definitive update at that time. But until then, last I heard it was no on Red. :waaa:

I'm merely an assistant, but that said, I prefer to be an assistant on 24 than work somewhere else with a better sounding title on a lesser show. Plus, the atmosphere there is really great. Everyone is nice and easy to work with, and I've been able to get to know some of the people from other departments, like Mr. Charters!

does sound like you learned a lot being an assistant there.
Thanks for sharing your view and experience.

That's really cool Bradley! Good for you that's great to get the chance to work on a show like that! Up until the latest season 24 was definitely my favorite show on TV. Great drama and action, not to mention characters! :-) I'd love to have the chance to learn on a set like 24! Good luck!

Hopefully I'll find out more next week about any changes to the schedule, etc. Personally I hope they've pushed back the air dates to coincide with the 1 1/2 month production delay, but I sort of doubt it.

Hopefully once we start back up I'll be able to chat with Rodney some more about his Red tests. If so I'll be sure to spread the news, of course I'll have to make sure he's cool with that first!
