Hi, how is everyone
I'm a Venezuelan living on Argentina. I'm planning on buying a Scarlet next year. Right now I'm selling my Sony FX-1000, and other stuff that with or without scarlet I still need a change of camera.
The Plan is (And I hope to know for sure after this 30th) to make a 3 day trip to Lake Forest, where I think are the RED HQ, right?
I'm sure more than one on this forum have been there. Do you have any recommendations on places to stay, and any warning.
The Airport to arrive is John Wayne Airport (SNA) Am i right?
Well, thanks for taking the time to share :)

I think that Scarlet will be sold only by authorised dealers, so no pick up at Red's.
and btw they plan to move to Las Vegas ...

I'm guessing with the volume of Scarlet in-person pickups will be pretty rare. Aren't they already saying no in-person pickups for RED ONEs at this point? (Which is not unexpected, I mean you can't get a copy of Windows 7 direct from Steve Ballmer nor pick up a Mac Pro at Steve Jobs' office either.)

Oh my bad, I've been following everything buy didnt knwo about the personal pick ups policy. Actually, I thought there wasnt a dealer distribution. This makes more sense, and seems great.
So were talking maybe BH?
Let's wait for the information then.

There was talk of that when Scarlet was a totally self contained system (around NAB 2008) but I don't think they've said it's going to happen with the new system. Having so many different pieces in the modular system, I think it would be hard to support from anyone but RED itself.

It's not really that many pieces- just a lot of different configurations. Looks no more complex in terms of accessories than the Zacuto line- which is deal through distributors. With the amount of cameras they're talking about selling I'd be very very surprised if RED were the sole distributor on Scarlet. At a certain point a dealer's network will become inevitable.
