Sometimes it's hard to judge black levels or certain tones, without a direct comparison. It would be nice to have a little pallet that could be a grey scale, macbeth -ish, or just a black chip. That you could float around near things in your scene to check levels to your eye.

Sitting on a greenscreen stage today with to little to do.

Have you tried enabling the Grey Scale option in the camera's DISPLAY menu Mike?

If so, does that offer the kind of help you are looking for?

Stuart, I think he's talking about REDCINE-X, not the R1 ;)

I am new here.
I plan to buy a scarlet.
So I have tried REDCINE-X on my Alienware Pc. Work fine :).

Have some question about it:

1 - Why no picture comparaison for grade, like in some software as LUSTRE by exemple. User could grab 1 picture as reference in a window A and see his grade in a window B. That will be so useful.

2 - I follow "RED" company and their product since some months now but i haven't an answer about Resolution (1/2,1/4,1/8,1/16). That's about horizontal resolution, vertical or simply by surface?
1/2=2048x....
1/4=1024x...
1/8=512x...????? i am right?

3 - Tools for Audio maybe in future?

4 - Keys to move frame by frame?

5 - Possibilities to re-encode in R3d after grade?

This software have great potential...i know that's just a Beta version....

Antoine.

Yes, and I LOVE IT! Smartest, simplest thing I've seen in ages. I use it all the time, but yes I was referring to Redcinex
