I am looking to complete a shoulder mount solution for my RED One.

I currently have O'Connor 2060HD support system. O'Connor quickplate is mounted to RED cheese plate. I also hope to eventually get an O'Connor 1030HD and some carbon sticks for a lighter support system.

First question: Is the quickplate for my 2060 the same as the quickplate that I would get with a 1030?

If so, I am hoping to possibly go with the AllStar shoulder mount rig.

Idea would be to be able to pull RED off of either 2060 or 1030 head and quickly slap the AllStar shoulder mount under and clamp it to the O'Connor quickplate. (can this be done?)

I have looked at the AllStar setup and it appears that this might be doable.

Anybody got any input?

The Allstar and ET solutions are both good, get the baseplate and dovetail mount. It will allow you to go from fluid head to shoulder mount without taking anything off the camera.

That is what I was hoping to make happen. Does anyone know about whether the O'Connor 2060 and 1030 quickplates are the same?

I guess I can call AbelCine to find out.

After looking at the Mantis again, I may just hold out and wait until I can afford it.

Thanks!

I don't believe they are the same, I have the 2060 and it is quite a bit bigger than the 1030 plates I've seen (although those are the older style). You wouldn't need the quick release with the ET or AllStar base plates however, the dovetail fits directly on the 2060 and the Mantis slides on without the plate. You can also lower the camera a bit by removing the quick plate and the quick release mount from the 2060.
