Well I have been lusting after this cam for awhile now. I am only a wedding videographer but I think I can really make a mark if I get this history making cam.

Wife says hell no...
industry friends say not for weddings
Film guys say this cam will end my wedding days and begin my director of Photography career
The rED site clock is ticking and some how I know that this cam ill be way more expensive and hard to get once the industry figures out its for real.

Not sure how this cam will make money for me yet .....

Wow the preasure....

Buy one. A wedding is a big deal for most people :-). Having it documented in SD or HD? I would absolutely use it for weddings. In a few years HD-TV's are going to be standard in most homes. We are going to use ours for web TV shows in HD720 and HD1080.

At least make a reservation... You don't have to buy it...

I can't imagine doing weddings with this camera for some time...unless you're doing very, very BIG weddings with very big budgets. It would be like hunting a mouse with a bazooka.

Now, if you have your designs on being a director of photography that would change things considerably.

As for the wife, well you've got your balls in a sling for sure. I made sure when I got married that my wife was down for cause before rings were exchanged, but it sounds like it's already too late for you.

If you're really attached to the wife, you're in a tough spot. If you're not really attached to her, there's hope. :) (jk)

EDIT: Check out Evin's signature, "it's better to ask forgiveness than permission" or something like that. It's been true in my marriage for 18 years and it will be for at least 18 more. :)

Just get it in before the deadline! You can always get your deposit refunded, so you can argue about it later without any permanent commitment! Owning RED would be a very nice tool to begin mastering your craft as a DP, and could arguably become a key factor in getting you "in."

I myself am a wedding videographer. I reserved one. I wish I had money for 2. Am I going to use this cam for weddings? Hell no! I don't think they can pay me enough to use it. I'm hoping to be steered in a different direction with the RED. My wife has no say in this!!!! :D HEHE. Check out some clips www.futurewaveimages.com

Way to show no fear, sonisfear. Sometimes you just have to hang it out there in order to push yourself in a new direction.

Don't think of it as desperation, but rather motivation. Welcome.

PS-If you get in too much trouble you can always get your money back.

EDIT: Might need to change your screen name to, sonisNOfear or sonWASfear. :)

No problem. If you're smart about it, you can have the divorce finalized before your camera ships and pay for it with your half of the money you get from selling the house. ...If you're currently renting, you're probably screwed.

Sounds like we need a lawyer to start drafting a Red prenuptial agreement for the singletons!

Now after the divorce, she gets the house and the car and you get the Red. Dreams can come true. RED.

why not include a work or 4 hire page by city with gig message boards.

Example:

B roll RED rig needed for 2 day shoot.

and

4 hire in XYZ area
1 redcam with 4K rig

So guys like me can start booking gigs to pay for the cam.
