Dear Redgang, fellow Redusers,

could someone post the 2k version viewable on OSX / Windows without FCS2? Having a 2K version would be quite helpful in luring some directors to the IBC - and none of the discreet, avid, adobe, sony and even the osx fcs1 here canīt neither playback nor transcode the file here.

Nothing against prores - however for delivery & distribution its not an good choice when offered alone. Even apple itself doesnīt offer their trailers in prores.

Quicktime for windows will play the file, but you need to download the lastest
version and you can do it without Itunes if you like

"Quicktime for windows will play the file,"

i don't think it will play on a PC - the file is using the Mac ProRes codec and it is not available on PC's ...

Jan (laguun) has been of the most valuable RED reservation holders (including myself :) I'm sorry but Jim :glare: knows very well about what I'm referring to). He has been on cinematography.com fighting alone (or almost) against adverse hurricanes.

If he wouldn't deserve a RED ONE unit for free, at least this 2K version transcoded to PC side 'cause it will target a wider audience.

:poster_oops: What a sacrilege!

This "2K" version we keep talking about is actually 1920x1080p 24fps...

The tease: I have it encoded to 10.3Mbps(avg) H.264 and it plays beautifully in a HD-DVD player. :whistling: It's not as wonderful as the ProRes original, but it's pretty darn good.

The catch:
If Jarred says it's OK, I'll post it.

CTL_Trailer.mov>>File error>>The file is not a movie file. It can't be open in the newest QT 7.2 or FCP 6.0.1 on my MacPro 8-core workstation. Actually it is not ProRes QT file.
Need a help!!!

Hi Emanuel,

I have not seen you fighting there for a long time!

StephenYes indeed. I left the towel on the floor. But RED didn't need me. Besides, it's impossible to have an open discussion when you know very well what motivates the other party or parties.

I dislike low feelings (little ones actually) like envy. ŦThis guy is rich, has an airplane, all life long sold sun glasses so it is (not he is) a view to a killŧ.

Maybe I had felt the same when with a law degree, postgraduate studies in media and copyright law plus a master in film production beyond my career at the university and as producer on the national TV, I went to the film school for a BFA in filmmaking with a major in directing and a minor in editing during 4 years. Maybe.

Hi Stephen,

its not a fight. Never was.

Main purpose of my constant replies there is, that people, who have no deeper knowledge regarding red, donīt get confused by the aggressive or offensive negative comments of some few posters there.

Some of the folks over there, as R.B., meanwhile changed their attitude and ordered.

As one can see in this particular thread, criticism and demands can be presented in a polite manner.

Would it be cinematography.coms red-subforum, some of the usual suspects would rather have started this thread writing: *CAPSLOCK ON* "Its obvious that these *insert four-letter-words* redheads only can write *insert more four letter words* apple, and redcode isnīt working! obvious!*

And when such statements are presented en masse, less informed readers might come to the wrong conclusion that there would be some truth about it.

Besides, c.com is a valuable source, sadly the red subforum there is the exception to this rule. Lets hope that changes once the 4,5 offensive posters are using red.

We are very protective of how Peter's footage gets shown. We prefer that no one posts their own downrez of this material. Thanks for respecting the copyright.

I'll get Jarred to do an H.264 and post it as soon as he can find some free time.
