View Full Version : Mounting a 23" Apple Cinema on a C-Stand?

My basic Red field monitor is going to be the Apple 23" Cinema display with the HDLink converter to take the dual HD-SDI and turn it into a full 1080p picture. It seems to be the best thing to do. HD-SDI BNC cables seem to be much cheaper and more durable than HDMI cables (and 1080p vs 720p).

Anyhow, what would be the best way to mount it on a c-stand?

Right now my best idea is to get the Apple VESA mount then buy this VESA to 5/8" receptor http://www.filmtools.com/lcdvemobrfib.html

Any other ideas?

I will be sure to put lots of extra sand bags on the C-stand, some one can and will nock the thing down no problem, the item you chosed to mount one is great, filmtools is over priced most of the time, I purchased mostly from NY, better prices, no taxes cheap shipping.

Most monitoring is done on a portable cart/desk set up also you can do a slide in/out mount kinda like your keyborad slider below your usual desk.

I like the yok mount but is a risky proposition that can set you back $800.

I will be using one of my 30" apple monitor but it will be on a apple/cart.

I wish someone made a hard case with a yoke adapter. The problem with the VESA to 5/8 is that it still leaves the monitor completely vulnerable to the elements.

Something like this but for the 23" Cinema display would be nifty

Hey Sean you can check these out. They work well and are very adjustable however very pricey.

The solutions for hard shipping cases are definatelly out there, I like Pellican's
but they are very bolky.

Severall companies that I work with do costum shipping cases with different set up options, open from top, side or bottom.

I also like www.nelsoncasecorp.com

I hope you find here a sutable design for your needs.

It's simply a mount that does the exact same thing as the FilmTools mount for over 2x the price.

Yeah it's expensive, but I can say it's ability to hold some serious weight and super adjustability is where VF probably feels the price is justified. Mind you I didn't say I purchased one I've just used them on some pro LCD's (metal incased monitors). The LCD's end up weighing a bit and these mounts lock the monitor in to almost any position you can imagine.

Here is my current setup at my mom's house. It works great for my 30" with VESA mount, but it cost me over $700.

Yes, this is a nice set up, but I still prefer apple/carts as they offer better stability and security for the entire system and everithyng is on board the cart on pneumatich tires, you can take the all set up on the beach or any were you ike, included with a Honda portable superquiet generator.

For the dough a Cinema costs, I would get a custom hard case for it with a 2k mount on it, and cable patches on the outside, and put it on a 2k lowboy roller.
