I know this aint an issue for me as I'm @ #930, but is the drive pulled for now in favr of CF
I really dig the CF thing, and will get it, but the drive still have some sexyness to it for me.
Any news on this?

The drive isn't going anywhere, I don't see how it could. The media that was pulled were the express cards I believe.

The drive is still the answer for shooting documentary and such at the moment, and whatever else can't be interrupted for the swapping out of cards.

How long can you operate the Red One and a Red Drive on one battery? Is battery life an issue to promote express cards at this stage? Or is it the sheer convenience and weight etc.?
Thanks for the answer.

I'm getting the RED-DRIVE mostly because I have a bunch of friends in different bands. It would be great to shoot an entire show without interruption. It would be so much better to have at least one more camera though.

the questoin of battery is a good point though... I suppose extra long uninterrupted recording times need long uninterrupted battery life...

I think we can expect about 2 hours battery life for the RED batteries with the RED-DRIVE and EVF or LCD powered. The charger works sequentially and takes about 3.5 hours to fully charge from what I've heard.

i'm thinking of getting a double block batt ( 3rd party) for those times that the camera sits on tripod or dolly = 2hrs no problem ... maybe RED will come out with a double block ??

Yeah, I have been figuring out what to do about that, too. Donatello, have you found any good solutions out there?
