Is there anyone that can give us even a rough sense of what transcoding times we can expect for a Rocket-powered Macbook Pro to common formats? We've been waiting for this information to surface for quite some time. Even an unscientific / rough test would be greatly appreciated.

It would be great to know 2k / HD Prores 422 or 4444, as well as 2k / HD DPX. The Prores encoding is more CPU limited, whereas the DPX files should be more limited by the speed of the drives, so anyone with info on Macbook Rocket please include drives used and processor speed.

Regards,
Caleb

I had to loan my expander to someone else and have not been able to test this yet. I'll be able to run some tests tomorrow.

Thanks so much Deanan. There are a number of us who are awaiting these results, even if it just gives us a ballpark.

Going from a 4k 2:1 file to a 1080P prores quicktime, my MBP unibody 2.93 GHz ran at about 14fps.

This is using the MaxxDigital box.

Thanks a mil, Deanan. That's great news. How about DPX and TIFFs?

That's mostly dependent on the disk bandwidth and gets tricky
because to get the best speed you'll either need a fast ssd internally
or a raid externally which means sharing the pci-e bus (i don't have
the istorage e3 to test that yet).
