Is there going to be a SDK released or at least a driver I can hook into? I don't care what features are available or not if I can get a decent SDK or lib, I can hack nearly any hardware.

SDK for what ? The camera generates compressed files or you can grab the uncompressed stream off the chips.

SDK for controlling and programming the inputs and outputs and settings (like interfaces - USB, remote-wireless etc.), I guess. That way complementing hardware can be designed or applications for handheld or other devices connecting to camera can be developed.
I guess SDK will come at a later stage of Red One software development, but I might be wrong.

rule #1 about sdks:
people use them to do things nobody thought of.

I'd be all about it since I am a software architect. But I'm not holding my breath since it's more important to get the camera out of the door. Would be a fun project to create an automated Red dolly/crane system. You know, like the thing they used in Back 2 the Future II and III. Hmm....

laguun, has the idea.
sdk's let you do things no one has thought of and i have ideas and concepts... try different wavelet basis functions for different frame rates, 6ghz wifi, 10GigE, extract motion vectors, using roi's to set camera parameters, etc, blah blah blah....
if no sdk, just a longer route, time to get out the hex/bin editor, sniffer, maybe throw labview at it and see what sticks.
