I try to avoid political discourse on technical forums since there are so many places to discuss politics but this was just too serendipitous.

August 31st, 2007 is both the day the first production RedOne cameras are released and the last day that Karl Rove works at the White House. In my book that is a true RED letter day.

Since there are conservatives, liberals, and in-betweens on these forums it's probably a good idea to continue to avoid political discourse and stick to technical issues.

I really hate political threads on technical forums too. It does not breed professional dialogue, imo. I love and respect you, Blair, but can we delete or lock this one?

It Works!!! You put someone on your Ignore list, and their posts no longer show up! This is great

If I promise to keep the politics to myself in the future will you not "lock me out" . The coincidence was just too much, I lost my head.

Great! I guess we can cross Rove off the list. But that is all I'm gonna say about it. I don't want to get myself put on a different list (actually I'm probably already on it).

Curran, if you are referring to my post, I've got no problem with your disagreeing with my politics. I don't like having it screamed in my face, but I'm o.k. with respectful disagreement. I've said before that Hillary will VERY likely be the next president, and quite frankly, unless Condoleeza Rice were to run, I'd just as soon have her for the next four year term (with a Republican congress) and then 8 years of Jeb Bush. That is actually a prediction I have made, and I'm stickin' to it. Liberals need love to, so have a happy four year love affair on me.

number6, I wasn't referring to your list at all. As one of my friends said when I recommended that he sign up to an email newsletter I read called "Flyby news" (http://www.flybynews.com/), he said, "No thanks, I don't want to get put on The List." And no, he wasn't referring to the email list.

Speaking of "lists," I just did a search and found an interesting one....

Gotta love a guy (Kucinch) that uses the press to find a wife. Obama doesn't convince me that he will be able to wield pouer wisely. But enough about politics. I know this thread started politically, but the forum is about Red cameras. Once we get them in our hands, we can be as political or inane or hilarious (no political pun intended) as we please. RED POUER!

I don't know how Kucinich found his wife, but she's pretty hot!

Here's a picture of her from one of my favorite websites.

Blair, I unlocked a few days ago (you are too valuable a contributor to keep locked out) but am only now getting back to this thread. No problem with your politics, actually. Just the fact that your post associated the camera with your train of thought. Some of us on another train feel the camera is just as much RED state as it is BLUE state. Sorry, that last was kind of associating the camera with a political point of view my oun self, wasn't it? So, even Steven?

Political genius that gave us the worst President in my lifetime and did damage to this country that will take at least 20 years to recover from. Other than that great guy.

Heh heh... I would never rule anything out... I could get hit on the head again and switch back. Could happen. (ORRRRR... a woman who had something I really, really wanted could withhold her favors until I changed! But afterwards I would probably just change back.)

I'm not an idealogue - I just don't like crooks and incompetents from any party.

Regardless of your party we all should try to find the real truth and look past what party leaders and the major media tells you. You gotta know the major media is a rigged system. The Internet is becoming the great equalizer slowly though.

There's a really good movie about the the managing of the Iraq war called "No End in Sight". It's done by a very bright guy and he interviews high level Bush insiders. It's not a liberal bash job at all.

http://noendinsightmovie.com/

The media won't give you the truth. It takes wealthy individuals like this guy to do the real investigative journalism these days.

You may find it surprising to hear that I agree with you, for the most part. Doesn't matter if it's left wing or right wing, all too often it's the wingTIPS that are a partys' definers. Clip the tips and you've got a pretty good bird (American Eagle).

I, on the other hand, take a long term view of things. Whether or not this war is being prosecuted ultra efficiently (no war ever has been) is not the most important thing to me. I'm not dismissing the needs nor the value of the men and women fighting this one, I'm just saying the one single most important thing about this war is that, it is. The Middle East has been the rumbling volcano of the political world, probably since the end of WWII. The western world has tried to negotiate progress for them through both the American Party's presidencies. Nothing has worked. Bill Clinton offered Arafat a deal that any sane person outside the Middle East would have said was more than fair. He rejected it because he was afraid the few radicals would kill him like they did Sadat for signing a peace treaty with Israel.

And while most everyone says we should not have gone into Viet Nam (my war) just our being there caused that portion of the world to change. It changes simply because the American soldier is very often the most idealistic and compassionate among us. The civilians usually get to know Americans in a good way. Quite often, they take that memory with them when we've gone and apply some of what they choose to admire, and discard that which they do not.

Our decision to engage the middle east in a pro-active way will reap benefits worldwide, in my opinion, in the intermediate and long distance future. You could even argue that it is bringing benefits to the entire world at this very moment. Consider if you will, that Purdue University Scientists have hit upon the proper balance of Aluminum/gallinium (gallide?... whatever, anyway, 80%-20% or thereabouts) alloy that will take simple water and divide it into its oxygen-hydrogen properties, allowing one to fill a fuel tank or fuel cell with water and drive off with no hazard of pressurizing the hydrogen or needing outside energy source to do the conversion. They are saying that lawn mowers or home generators could be ready by next year with cars, submarines etc. soon following. (Imagine, running your RED setup off a noiseless generator. And, the aluminum, gallium, and water can all be recycled!) Would this all be happening now if everything was as it was before in the Middle East? Probably not, because it takes incentive to push us to do better.

So, Joelnet, you must have a late reservation number like me, otherwise we would be over at the pictures thread ooohing and aaaahhhhing like everyone else.

Yeah - I'm a later rez holder. You're right - I'd be shooting!

I'll totally agree with you the middle east is a mess. I just don't think violence will be a part of the solution. To me spending 500 bilion towards reducing our dependency on OIL is something that I think would have been a better strategic decision.
